Kevin Durant Demands Trade

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
There isn't a package that is anywhere close to even a declining Durant. He has a short list, none of those teams have a ton of picks or young talent. The teams that have a ton of picks aren't going to use them for him knowing that he doesn't want to he there.

That and every team whose unloaded a bunch of picks has blown up in their face. Including the Brooklyn Nets.

You can't trade picks in consecutive years. And you have Cavs trading their own 2024, 2025, 2026 and 2027 firsts.

hmmm ........ strange that fanspo didn't flag that!

A trade can be worked out to bring KD to the land. He is a top-3 player in this league and I feel there is a way to get him without sacrificing our young core.

This, on paper, is a five-team trade which are seemingly impossible to pull off. But, who knows!

BKN get:
Donovan Mitchell, Cavs' 2026 FRP, Cavs' 2027 FRP (top-5 protected). They pair Simmons with Mitchell for one of the best back courts in the league, and get two FRPs. That might not be enough, but apparently the offers are not that exciting now anyway. Cavs add the protection to the 2027 pick because KD will no longer be playing (for us, at least). Another lottery protected FRP (from CHA) can be added if CHA trade Haywards + LP FRP for Love to save $28 mil.

CLE get:
KD

DAL get:
Collin Sexton on S&T (3 years --> 16 mil, 17 mil, 18 mil, or in that range). DAL get what they want.

UTA get:
LeVert, Markk, Cavs' 2024 FRP, 2025 FRP. This is assuming that they get into rebuild mode. They might flip the players for more picks. However, Conley, LeVert, Bogdanovic, Markk line-up would not be push-overs

SAS get:
Davis Bertans, DAL 2025 SRP, GSW 2023 SRP (from Cavs). They have the cap space to absorb that salary, and get 2 SRPs for that. DAL pick can even be heavily protected FRP.

So, all said and done, Cavs will start DG, Okoro (or Ochai), KD, Mobley, and Allen.

Pipe dream!

A 5 team trade is *highly* unusual and even more difficult.

Not to mention the consecutive 1st the Cavaliers are giving up...

The Nets need to refuse to do these trades. They just can’t let Durant and Kyrie come in, blow up the team, and then exit leaving basically smoking rubble behind.

And yet.... they will.

People need to give up the idea that there's some "justice" in the NBA.

It was a rare reactionary rule change that turned out to be beneficial to the game.
It's a damned good rule, and not just because it embarrasses Ted Stepien in perpetuity.

Though it’s likely going to get changed soon, it’s also kind of funny that the NBA had to raise their age limit due to teams making horrible picks on guys straight out of high school.

I don’t think they’ll change that rule back….not the these “superstars” are forcing their way off teams! Owners aren’t going to want other owners asking for back to back first rounds.

I was referring to the age limit.

The trade that NBA Today floated out is the only realistic one: A three team trade….
Nets get: Donovan Mitchell, Mikal Bridges and Myles Turner

Phoenix gets: Durant

The Pacers get: Ayton

The Jazz gets: Ben Simmons, Cam Thomas, 5 first round picks ( 4 from the Suns, 1 from Indy…..the one we owe them, and 3 swap picks from the Suns)

Sounds like that would work! IF Utah is in a full rebuild mode.

That's a four-team trade, not three.
I don't see why Nets will give up KD and Simmons for Mitchell, Bridges, and Turner (and no picks).

I think the net could not do better.. they still have Krazy Kyrie in the barrel to get picks or another good player..

How about Kyrie to NO for Zion and Nance and the second Lakers FRP..

If the Nets kept Kyrie, that would be a decent team. Maybe they aren't interested in building through the draft and are content to simply be a playoff team.
