Second half 22 GM Thread!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'd rather send Bieber to the NL if possible. But I can't imagine he's going anywhere soon.

I think @CDAV45 would agree with me on this, on Paper, the Cardinals are the best candidate right now to get Bieber if we actually make him available/trade him

I really doubt we move him before at least trying to extend him one more time... if we cannot extend him next spring, he will be on the trading block

So two top 100 prospects (#38 and #71, would be our 3rd and 4th ranked prospects) and 2 guys outside it and the top international prospect in 22 are middling prospects?

Edit: Wesneski and Waldichuk are better SPs than Battenfield and have a better pedigree than Civale, Plesac and Quantrill...

I've been wanting Sears for awhile now in our bullpen...
First off, I wouldn’t give you a bucket of piss when it comes to the national pundits opinions about Yankee prospects. Secondly those 2 are not better SP’s than Battenfield, but you do you.

You and your desperation for a BP arm in a season where prospects are getting the focus is baffling. We don’t need a BP arm. If we do then call one up.

We need bullpen arms... Sears is a starter who is better from the pen in my mind...

And I am not going by National media... I am going by there actual numbers at AAA. Command from Waldichuk could be better, but a 13.6 SO per 9 from the left side with a very good changeup and a good fastball... Wesneski has a plus slider to go with his fastball and cutter... Both guys will be in the bigs in 23... Both guys could/would get time this season if we acquired them for Bieber...

@Mcreek

We all know you want Benson (and a bunch of us) want Brennan on the 40 man, we would have to move Tena, Palacios and Reyes...

If we can do that, I think that creates the space you want for Benson. I think it's too soon, just because I want him to keep what he is doing going and not put any pressure on him. His issues was keeping the swing in practice going in games. If the FO thinks he is ready though, they have to make a move. DFA'ing Call isn't the right call in my mind to get him to the big league club. I feel like it's moving Reyes and Palacios...

Did anyone see Plesac after the game? I was looking, but didn't see him. I did see Torres was dressed though.

Benson is hot. Freeman is hot. Brennan is still hot.

I hate the idea of it, but I bet there are several teams asking about Brennan.

Is it time for Miller and Freeman to switch places? Probably can't happen since Freeman doesn't play 1B, but maybe Clement and Fry could switch places as well? Maybe Benson gets the call? As long as Rosario and Reyes are on the roster none of this is likely.

Miller doesn't play first base either.. he more subsists as a 1B, defensively..

So, 4-1/2 days to the trade deadline... Other than a 1B/DH bat, I think that the Guard will not do anything. Yet, even then, they would need to make a 26-man roster move which means both Jones and Oscar (maybe Miller) get sent down.

I think the Guardians are stuck in neutral, not knowing if they want to go forward or in reverse.

Reasons to Sell
-- Saw a tweet that the market right now has many buyers and sellers are holding out for a return like Seattle giving up 2 top-100 prospects. Imagine if they got that for Bieber (they would target 3 for him) or Rosario (even one for him which would seem fair for a top 10 WAR SS).
-- Just as people think we would be buyers to clean up for 40-man roster slots, there are players who do not fit our organization long-term: Rosario (it's him or Bieber to fit into long-term payroll space), Reyes and Plesac that can get very interesting prospects at A level to avoid 40 man spots (well Reyes won't get you much)
-- We are in 17th spots to win this year's WS according to 3 of the top gambling sites. Even if we win the division, it's hard to believe we have enough fire power to make anything happen
-- There is a need for pitching out in the market (Phili is even looking at Plesac) and the relief market isn't any better.
-- Guard has been extremely lucky that they have had no major injuries to their main players (just Civale, Morris, Vargas, Oscar, ...), luck usually evens out over a full season.

Reasons to Buy
-- We are 1-1.5 games out of division and WC
-- We have a ton of prospects
-- You don't want to disrupt the clubhouse culture by doing a fire-sale so buy a rental to keep people happy
-- The cost of a rental should come down where it would even make the fans on this site happy to see that they did something

Reasons that they do nothing
-- The market has a huge iceberg in the way called Soto (where the dam needs to burst first as some clubs are holding onto prospects needed for that deal before moving on)
-- It is only 4 days away and they keep on winning against teams that they should be losing to out of luck of facing some when they are down like Tampa -- It usually takes 4 days for them to analyze 1 trade let alone multiple trades.
-- There are signs to buy due to record in a seller's market and that is the exact opposite of their style (want to win trades)
-- They can aways sell Rosario/Plesac in the winter (like they did with Lindor/Cookie) and still get a reasonable deal .. maybe more for Reyes if he can right the ship. And, the same is true for prospects to clear up 40 man spaces
-- They cannot buy hitters if they want to see more from Nolan Oscar and Benson to clear those 40 man spaces come offseason.
-- Edit: We are not going to do much in playoffs because 2/5th of our pitching staff will be hitting innings limit come mid-Sept (McK and Quant)

Come on Cleveland get it done...

Edit: don't worry this a joke post from my standpoint lol

@petes999 do you or anyone you know have baseball America's subscription? Supposedly BTV uses them to help set values, but none of the free places have Stone from the Dodgers anywhere near being a top 100 prospect...

Nada .. nothing.

Bieber to Dodgers may make sense at some point but they aren't giving up May who has had a couple rehab starts and is getting closer to returning. But, I would just settle for May and Cartaya and maybe throw in a Lava or Palacios...

I really think it would end up being the Cardinals, and honestly I would like to get ahold of Vargas from the Dodgers, I think he has a legit chance of being a very good major league player offensively...

If posting historical facts about the failure rate of high school pitchers taken in the first round is drivel so be it.

(Notice how long its been since we've heard anything about Espino)

A little more drivel for the deniers...

The earth is round.

Folks say that they expect to contend with rookies...rookies last year...rookies this year...rookies next year...rookies in 2024. Then they insist that they don't expect rookies to perform at the level of those they replace.

You can't contend if you are getting worse, or merely treading water.

This org can easily afford Amed next year...and long term, if they choose to do so. Amed isn't going to break the bank.

We still need more starting pitching, for this year and next.
