2022 Post-Season | Division Series | Yankees vs. Guardians | Oct. 11 - ?, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We should be talking about replacing Straw like the Astros decided to do.. now we don't have to trade, but a simple demotion to the bench is acceptable.

They extended him... he's the starter...

Now, he will lose innings if he doesn't fix his issues, but right now, he's the starter

Arias is an everyday player
Yep he's either an every day player or just a regular sub. In order to be a platoon bat you need to actually show ability to hit your side of the platoon... It didn't work with Owen Miller and it's not likely to work with Arias.

Hate?

Call a spade a spade. He was slightly above league average as a hitter, and slightly below average for all shortstop, while being significantly below average defensively.

Someone calling him average and understanding that he isn't a long term solution on this team isn't out of line or hating. It's just reality.
Average? Among shortstops in the AL, he was 6th in OPS, 4th in AVG, 4th in SB, 5th in RBI, 2nd in hits, 1st in triples . Nothing about that screams average. Given the financial constraints that our team perennially has, I don’t see many better options out there at $6 million for 2023. Beyond that, sure we have plenty of youth which has yet to prove themselves over the course of a season at the Major League level and that may prove to be a more viable option down the road.

However, for you to be the arbiter of all things baseball is far from reality .

Would you guys rather see the Brennan pinch hit AB again, or Straw batting? I rest my case on who should be getting the opportunity.

Also been our clutchest post season hitter outside of Kwan

I wonder if we will essentially flip Jones for a RH power bat in a sense...
I sure wouldn't mind that, even for someone like Darin Ruf. Could also trade him and sign some over the hill guy with a little pulse left like Y. Gurriel

How many qualified for that?

We aren't saying we don't like Rosario, but we have so many guys coming up that are better fielding SS with plus bats...

I'd rather create a spot for a RH power bat while playing the young guys....
