2022 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I’ve always liked Fermin. Saw him several times when he was in low minors, an “under the radar” player. Didn’t do much this year but was basically relegated to being a utility/back up player. Change of scenery may do him good.

I'm sure Cleveland probably would give him an offer for 23. I wouldn't though blame him for going to an organization that actually needs MIF... What position do you think he ends up as if he isn't an utility man?

That was me. Haha.

I think, if the organization wants him at all costs regardless of being blocked at 2B, SS, and 3B, that is where they would put him.

It makes 100% sense, but our OF actually isn't looking bad either. I think OGonz is the weakest link defensively out there, but we still have a fair amount of talent in the OF...

Nice to see both Kwannie and Spongebob being recognized...

If Pasquantino wasn't a bigger prospect, one could argue Oscar performance was better and more impactful.

Pasquantino, the Italian Nightmare, had quite an impact on the KC Royals offense.. good bat.. mediocre glove.. His history says he'd work his ass off to be better with the leather..

If we didn't have Naylor already, I'd be advocating for Pratto. He didn't find the early success with the bat that Pasquantino has, but he can hit and plays a much better 1B. KC really has some nice young players. They aren't close to Cleveland due to the pitching advantage that the Guardians have.

It doesn't mean much with 15-16 year olds, but I did notice MLB pipeline getting ready for 2023 prospect lists. I noticed that at some point they updated their International class for January signing coming up. Yet, it kind of shows how much these listings are off. Bimbo has been really high on Francisca as probably the best signing since the Valera class. Yet, he is only listed as #28 when we consistently have top 25 signings and Yerlin the other top guy isn't listed.

But, if you go to FanGraph page, he is one of the higher 40+ kids (like the 7th Latin/Cuba player listed)

And, the two guys after him on FG are Duno who is #4 in mlb and Caba who is #13 in mlb and the other 40+ above him Bonilla is #7 in mlb. Go figure that these publications vary by so much (not worth the computer space they are written on).

What exactly do you make of Hunter Stanley? I was glancing at the MLB app and under the Cleveland guardians, it showed a clip of Stanley striking out 8 players in his fall league game. I feel like he will see AA action in 23... You guys really know anything about him? His numbers have been solid (for the 30 innings he did between A+ and fall league). I feel like, he could be a bullpen candidate in 24 with guys like Sharpe...

Don't know much about him but here is a blurb I found from Baseball America
"Stanley is just 6 feet, 190 pounds, but he's run his fastball up to 97 mph this spring—which was eye-opening for someone with his command—and sits in the 90-93 mph range."

In a Great Lakes game in April, he was sitting 91 with some 92,93 per the stadium speed gun (which maybe low - Bimbo says don't trust those guns). At the end of the game, he was throwing a few 94s but mixed in a lot of offspeed stuff.

And, if you look at his splits in our 4 games in Lake County (for a college pitcher to get placed there in spring is a good compliment from FO), in 38 PA he had .114/.299 BA/OPS (lefties stats weren't as good). Yet, 19 Ks in 13-2/3 inn with 5 walks and 9 hits ain't too bad for a guy who hasn't pitched since April.

So with limited 2022 data, who know what he can be next year but with a lot of 21 draftees ... it is interesting what the Guardians can pull out of him.

Just glancing at the rest of the class... Pettway had a good season...

Seems like we still have the whole 21 class...
