Interestingly, sulking and skulking are quite similar in their meanings. Slight difference is that skulk implies bad intent.

Someone who was actually sulking definitely wouldn’t call it skulking though, because they’d be acknowledging bad intent that wasn’t there. On the other hand, some who was skulking would most certainly be willing to mislabel it as sulking to trick someone else into thinking they weren’t a bad actor.
If you ever find someone skulking, get the hell out.
On a similar note… thaw, dethaw, and unthaw all mean the same thing.
