The Game (2022) | #2 Ohio State vs. #3 TTUN | November 26th, 2022 @ High Noon

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Better topic: Who wins the Heisman?

Caleb Williams if USC wins out seems to be the heavy favorite now.

If not? I dunno. Max Duggan if they win out?
Who is Max Duggan?

If I have to ask that, he’s not winning the Heisman.

We will see if Ohio State is as patient as UM. Didn’t Harbaugh start 0-5 against the Buckeyes? Most of those were an ass beating

I think different situations. Harbaugh is a former scUM player and I think this is his dream job. At one point, he restructure his contract to take less money for them to keep him and prove himself. I think Harbaugh could have hop back to the NFL if he wanted.

I'm not sure this is Day's dream job, I could see him jumping back to the NFL if the opportunity comes his way. I also think that he could jump to the NFL and even fail but get another HC job at a big time school. Day doesn't have any connections to Ohio State before he took the OC job. He basically inherited the program because of Meyer. I doubt he lose any sleep if he left Ohio State, failed in the NFL, then ended up at USC or Notre Dame.

His technique was about as bad as can be.
The defensive backs have been a weakness all season and were woeful yesterday. They couldn’t have looked anymore inept.
The inability to adjust if very concerning. You couldn’t play man, but they stayed in cover 0.
A whole lot went wrong.

Days job isn’t in jeopardy. He’s 11-1. He’s also still a young coach who is learning. First he had to adjust his personnel and fire Coombs.
Now he needs to let go of the offense and let Wilson call the plays.
Next he needs to install a toughness with his teams. They’re clearly losing the toughness battle.
It’s a lot of tweaks to an 11-1 team.

1. Vrabel
2. Fickell
Yeah...

If Vrabel was interested, I would fire Ryan Day immediately, without hesitation.

Otherwise, to me, Day gets 1 more year. Michigan will be expected to win The Game next year, for sure, but I don't give a shit. Fucking show up next year or GTFO.

I haven’t read anything yet.

I’ll just say this:

Down 11.
4th and 4.
With 11 minutes left.

And we fucking punted. PUNTED.

Jim Tressel would have gone for that 4th down.

Ryan Day is forever dead to me after that. DEAD.
All other bullshit from the game aside, I will never forget this; it will stick with me forever. Just an impossibly cowardly and stupid decision.

The punt that I didn't understand was mid-way through the 3rd quarter. We had just completed two passes totaling 27 yards, had 4th and 5 at the Michigan 43, down 4 and he punted. Of course the punt went into the end zone so we netted 23 yards on the punt. Chicken shit coaching IMO.

I had kinda forgotten about this one, but yeah this was bad too. Not as egregious as the other one, IMO, but pretty terrible.

Lol this was the series where we ran a little toss sweep to our 4th string RB on 1st and 35.

Then we pick up all of those yards with passes on 2nd and 3rd down. And then punt on 4th down.

Next year is put up or shut up for Day. This year he had everything going his way including a home game and many returning starters (including the qb). Still got his ass beat. Next year he doesn't have those advantages, but he put himself in that position.

Offense has talent but needs adjustments. Play calling is stale and predictable. Need to force the ball to Harrison more, the other wrs (despite their recruiting ranking) are kind of lackluster honestly. Need to get better and more creative in the red zone.

The biggest problem I see is the secondary, especially the corner. We have some potential new blood ready to take over at safety but the corners were terrible all year long and we're probably rolling with the same ones next year. Knowles likes to run an aggressive defense so any decent passing attack will likely shred the porous secondary and I don't see any fix for that. Day better get that offense figured out and out score people.
