Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Would honestly be nice to have this guy back.

I love this Baker that guts out a win in a tough situation. The problem is what do you do for the other games in the season?

Baker bros are wild. I got a text from a Browns fan after that game… “I’m literally so happy I feel like the Browns just won a playoff game”

I think that just proves all Baker’s issues are mental. Happy for him performing like that. Will always have a soft spot for Baker as I’m 31 and sadly he’s the best QB I’ve ever watched play for the Browns.

Both sides are annoying. The Baker Bros who treat him like god are just as annoying as the people with a weird fetish who get off on seeing Baker fail.

Sorry to kink shame.
Lol this. There are two sides here and both can get pretty ridiculous at times.

I'm not sure what you mean.

He's clearly their starter above Wolford.

Nice to see him have success here. As long as that Rams line can stay stout up the middle, I think Baker will perform fine in McVay's system.

I know people are only going to focus on the win, but Baker was still pretty shit last night.

The pathetic Broncos only put 16 points on the Raiders. Other than that, this was the lowest score a team managed to put up against the Raiders all year. No other team has put up fewer than 20 points.

Even on this last drive, Baker threw a terrible pick that got called back due to pass interference and he did his normal Baker thing where he freezes up in the pocket and eats a sack, which should've screwed the drive but Jerry Tillery committed a personal foul when he knocked the ball out of Baker's hand after the play.

I love seeing Baker succeed in the same way I like seeing LeVert succeed. They are amazing when they click. The problem is that after every Baker success, like after every LeVert success, it seems like there's an inevitable regression afterwards. It's terrible and addictive, sort of like how it's not uncommon for an alcoholic to suffer a worse hangover than the average person might if they drank the same amount. Is it the lows that make the highs seem higher or are they just wired that way? No idea. Just seems inevitable at this point.

When's the last time we saw Baker succeed?

Does last night count? I thought it was a pretty terrible game from him.

Do we value the handful of good passes on that drive, while forgetting all the mistakes and pretend like it's good just because the Rams got the W?

"But he did it with no practices! He just got picked up by the Rams!" is an excuse (and a valid one) for his poor performance. It doesn't mean his poor performance was secretly a good one.

For awhile I’ve viewed Baker as a 15-30 level QB. After his last season here, more like a 20-30.

Those guys can still make plays. Just not consistently.

It is what it is. Nothing agains the guy, but I’m happy we tried to upgrade our QB room

McVey is the guy for Baker, imo. He's a dude that totally believes in him, unlike...well almost a any other good coach in the NFL.

Hope he just stays in LAR.

This game was a personal make or break situation for Mayfield. He seems to thrive in those situations. It remains to be seen if he can sustain any high level of performance over a larger sample size, if he's in a more comfortable and secure situation. The Rams do seem to be a much better landing spot for him than the Panthers, and he will gain a lot of traction and goodwill from last night's otherwise meaningless victory.
