Game #26 | Kings @ Cavs | Dec. 9, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Seems like a weird night to post this when he was one of the few positives tonight creating for this team while our coach is off picking his nose and eating it.

He was -21 and his little missed layup at the rim followed by a turnover in traffic helped start the collapse.

But even w/o that, he could have had a great game and when I look at the season his impact has been negative. He's shooting horribly. He doesn't play the role the team needs at this point, and it would be an absolute waste to let his contract expire.

He has to go for a guy who better fits the roster as it is today. Because as it is today isn't what it was when they traded for him.

And it was nice to imagine a world where he would fit in when he was shooting over 40% from 3, but that's crashed back to Earth.

Gotta go.

It's a crazy ass world when I would prefer Mike Brown over our current HC. I know we were missing our best player but that loss was totally unacceptable. They should've made some adjustments. I know Sac is improved but you can't let them go on a 19-0 run to close out a game in your building.

With that said I was very impressed with Sabonis and their rookie Murray. Can't remember Sabonis playing this well when he was in Indiana. They have a really nice team.
Mike Brown is JBB if JBB reached his 90th percentile projection as a head coach.

IMO, a lot of this can be fixed if we played with a faster pace. Rubio would have been a big help tonight.

Mike Brown and Mike Malone were great together. Mike Brown by himself is not that guy.

When Rubio is back, Garland should basically never be handling the ball in crunch time. It should be Ricky and Mitchell. I trust those guys not to totally shit the bed when the pressure and physicality ramp up. Rubio defends his ass off and makes the right passes, and Mitchell can just light up any defense. Garland 90% of the time looks like a rookie playing in his first NBA game but with the confidence of prime AI.

By the way, Mitchell is starting to get THAT look on his face. Like, “oh no, this could be fool’s gold?” He’s an alpha surrounded by some weak-minded teammates and a bad coach.

No… he’s not lol

How the fuck do you put effort on POISE?

You either have that shit or you don’t. Garland doesn’t, and it’s why he couldn’t close last year without Mitchell and it’s why he can’t this year w/o Mitchell.

He’s too hero ball and not good enough to execute it down the stretch when the pressure is on.

You’re massively overstating Garland being some kind of struggling bumbling idiot in crunch time last year. He was all we had and he closed a shitton of games for us and was instrumental in us being a +.500 team last year.

The team collapsed last year after JBB lost his de-facto offensive coordinator to a torn ACL. Thank fucking god he’s coming back. Some games he was the only one in the building trying to get dudes in the right spot on the floor for Garland to succeed.

I think people would be shocked if they watched this Kings team play every night. They were missing their best player tonight as well.

I don’t know if it’s Brown’s doing or someone else on his staff, but their offense is legitimately impressive to watch. They maximize their personnel in ways we could only dream.
The difference is their team has a number of knockdown shooters who are also passable defenders. Keegan Murray, Huerter, Barnes, Lyles, even Monk.

Our starters and bench guys this game lack these types of players. Hence, the offensive struggle. Heck our starters feature 4 non-shooters. That is 80s level of backwards in this modern game.

No… he’s not lol
Watch the game and pay attention.

It’s clear this group continually fails to rise to the occasion. He’s a killer. They’re nerds.

Something will give in the next 12 months. A big trade will happen.

Huh?

He’s 22 years old. Last year the first year he played any meaningful basketball for a prolonged period.

Garland will be fine long term. People turning on him now are hilarious to me. This kid is such a Fucking good player. He’s averaging 22-8 almost on a really good basketball team and he’s getting trashed on this forum by people that probably can’t walk and chew gum at the same time.

Garland like many great young players before him will figure the shit out.

But I’m less sure about the coach on his 3rd or 4th stop after losing out on 2-3 interim gigs.

Well I sure as fuck hope so and I sure as fuck hope LeVert is in the way out.

He doesn’t fit, he can’t attack the rim on his own, he can’t create on his own really, he is just an overall horrendous fit.

LeVert is toast. He gone. We agree on that.
