Game #26 | Kings @ Cavs | Dec. 9, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Huh?

He’s 22 years old. Last year the first year he played any meaningful basketball for a prolonged period.

Garland will be fine long term. People turning on him now are hilarious to me. This kid is such a Fucking good player. He’s averaging 22-8 almost on a really good basketball team and he’s getting trashed on this forum by people that probably can’t walk and chew gum at the same time.

Garland like many great young players before him will figure the shit out.

But I’m less sure about the coach on his 3rd or 4th stop after losing out on 2-3 interim gigs.

I’m not turning on him. He’s just not a clutch player and doesn’t have that close the game our mentality you can get from a Trae or Donovan….

He is the reason we lost tonight. He doesn’t have that yet and it can’t be coached.

How the fuck do you put effort on POISE?

You either have that shit or you don’t. Garland doesn’t, and it’s why he couldn’t close last year without Mitchell and it’s why he can’t this year w/o Mitchell.

He’s too hero ball and not good enough to execute it down the stretch when the pressure is on.
Execute what? Give the ball to Cedi and clear out? That was their ATO play.

Yeah, DG isn't Mitchell, but if that's the plan during crunchtime when Mitchell doesn't play....

You know it’s bad when Mike Brown looked like Phil Jackson compared to this idiot on our sidelines with his arms folded

Bad loss again, this thread never disappoints. Gonna be hard to make any definitive judgments until Rubio is back, but one thing is for sure, they gotta get more shooting. Levert is going to be even more dispensable when Ricky is back. He played well tonight though, but he’s not the guy they need.

People can hate on Mike Brown all they want, but the Kings haven’t been to the playoffs in 16 years, are the 5th ranked offense, and currently 5th in the West. They started out the year horribly on defense and are currently 21st but are 12th in the last 10 games.

If their offense continues to perform this way and their defense continues to improve, they can finish with a top 4 seed in the West and still have some trade flexibility. If that happens Brown will probably win coach of the year.

Just a coaching thought with all the DG and JB hate tonight. How about taking the ball out of DG’s hands instead of watching him dribble for 20 seconds and struggle to get open for a shot and instead let him run off a double staggered screen to allow your best shooter to have an open shot? A lot easier JB.

When Rubio is back, Garland should basically never be handling the ball in crunch time. It should be Ricky and Mitchell. I trust those guys not to totally shit the bed when the pressure and physicality ramp up. Rubio defends his ass off and makes the right passes, and Mitchell can just light up any defense. Garland 90% of the time looks like a rookie playing in his first NBA game but with the confidence of prime AI.
I'm sorry.

I just can't take this serious.

Garland closed games all last season when Rubio was hurt.

Now you expect that Rubio without even seeing him play yet coming of ACL tear 2 should just be the guy with the ball in his hands more than Darius fucking Garland? The All-Star??

You are upset. I am too.

But this makes no sense.

Rubio can alleviate some of the ball handling burden. But in no way do i want him with the ball more than Darius Garland down the stretch.

Yall really think this dude is jesus...lol

I, you, and many others anticipate Rubio’s return. But what can we realistically expect? Fresh off an ACL rehab. We already run two diminutive guards out there who aren’t playing well together.

Do we really expect them to play Rubio Mitchell and Garland at the same time?

Who the fuck you want to handle it then.

last season over a full season sample size Garland was a +3.5 in crunch time and Trae The Mentality Young was -8.1. Hasn’t really had a lot of crunch time minutes this year but I’ll be interested to see where the numbers shake out closer to the end of the year.

Garland was 0-4 from the field with 3 turnovers in the 4th quarter alone. He's now shooting 33% from the field, 29% from three, and even just 76% from the line in the 4th this season, along with 4.4 turnovers per 36. Keep in mind, those averages are dragged up by one outlier performance against Minnesota where Garland went off while we tried to play catch up. He's been beyond awful in virtually every other game down the stretch this year.

But sure it's always ONLY JBB's fault and we can't put any blame on our $40 million a year PG.

First of all, this ain't the first time he's went into the fetal position late in games as the Cavs went from a surefire win to an inexplicable loss.

Second of all, I love the phrase "turning on him" as it applies to professional sports.

Like these guys are my blood and family or I owe them some type of loyalty.

If you play like shit, and he did, then we should be allowed to say it.

And he is absolutely not as good as he was last year so far this season. Fact.

Well I sure as fuck hope so and I sure as fuck hope LeVert is in the way out.

He doesn’t fit, he can’t attack the rim on his own, he can’t create on his own really, he is just an overall horrendous fit.
These are the players I hope open the door and exit the building before Levert:

Lopez, Neto, Windler, Wade and Okoro. I am not sure they make any other teams roster.

And outside of the core four, the remaining players ain’t much either. We gotta get at least two better players to make serious noise in the playoffs.
