Game #26 | Kings @ Cavs | Dec. 9, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Windler and Okoro are negative assets. Teams aren’t giving you anything for them. They just make salaries match.

Cedi and Wade are quarters and you’re talking about trading them for dollars. Not Gonna happen.

id call then neutral assets but not negative

I got nothing at this point with this line. You keep saying it so you must believe that you can actually trade that trash heap of players and 2nd rounders for a legit, good wing.

might as well believe in Santa Claus.

Fantasy land stuff.
Actually I don’t believe that but as I pointed out before a good GM gets creative and makes moves necessary to fill a team’s needs! What did we give up to get Allen? What did we give up to get LaVert?

Okoro is expiring money so he shouldn't be negative. And if he actually plays somewhat well you have team control.

LeVert for McDermott and toss in Okoro and get back one of their shitty, vet minimum/rookie salary guys.

Gorgui Dieng or Keita Bates-Diop or something.

Well in both cases the Cavs gave up 1st round picks, which they currently have zero of.

Point taken but I still say a creative GM can package players/second round picks to get the help this team needs!
The way people pimp Okoro on this board he along with LaVert, Cedi, Wade and the second round picks Koby loves to acquire should be able to bring something of value back!

DG's fourth quarter turnovers:

Turnover 1:
Okoro runs to the other side of the court, his defender doesn't follow him. They trap DG instead. Turnover.

Turnover 2: Okoro doesn't clear the side of the court, DG drives and both his and Okoro's man double him. Turnover.

Turnover 3: Mobley, JA, Cedi, and DG's man all converge him as he drives. Turnover. The only defender that was concerned about their man on the perimeter was LeVert's. Cedi has no idea what spacing is. He stands behind his defender and gives DG no outlet to kick it out.

He had the chance to be the Alpha tonight. No Mitchell to get in his head. He just struggled with bigger, tougher defenders and couldn't get good looks, and couldn't find open guys.

Right, and my point is that since he's not in position to do it game in and game out, he can't establish the same groove and comfort zone he had last year with DM being the main man down the stretch most games.

I’m sorry……That’s no excuse!

If this game was a pop song, it went from being the 'feel good hit of the summer' to 'that song that reminds me of my ex' in a short amount of time.

Maybe not, but doesn't change the fact that playing with Mitchell seems to have caused a bit of regression in Darius' game. Hopefully they will figure it out.
It has very little to do with Mitchell. Losing Markkanen has hurt Garland a lot, especially when Mitchell is not on the floor. Add in the loss of Love and it's easy to see why Garland is struggling at the end of games. The Kings were keying on Garland and not even guarding anyone else outside the paint, when Markkanen was here even if he wasn't hitting, his very presence forced the opposition to put a big near the 3 point line which opened up the paint. Without that, every time Garland drove he'd have 2 guys on him and another guy waiting on him in the paint. No one guards Okoro at all, no one pays attention to Allen outside the paint, Stevens is little more than an after thought, Cedi is hit and miss on any given night, and teams are willing to take their chances that Mobley won't beat them. There are just not enough offensive weapons on this team unless Mitchell and Garland are together, and when you worsen it by taking out Love and Allen you basically have Garland and a bunch of guys who can't shoot. It's a recipe for disaster.

They're not. But 16-10 is probably better than I thought they'd be, so that's not the problem.

The problem is that they now have like 4 late game collapses in the span of 25 games. It's an obvious, glaring issue.

People keep talking about the Clippers but that's not the only one. They had some others that they won in OT only after completely choking down the stretch and losing pretty hefty leads late.
An issue equivalent to JBB, because it’s a personnel issue, is the team’s inability to stand up to physicality.

All of the late game collapses were a result of increased physicality. And it appears the Raptors have their number because of that sole issue.

Garland’s is a finesse game and we could see that when the Kings got in his face, he was in big trouble.

When teams get physical with the Cavs, they don’t get physical back. They try to play through it. Nuh uh. Not gonna work. They need to take a couple techs, get into a fight, shove guys, I don’t care.

But playing through it when you have guys taking up ALL of Garland’s air space isn’t acceptable. With the Raps it’s more of a matter of seemingly being afraid of all those flailing arms. Throw a body.
