2022 Buckeyes Football

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
A few? So if they get absolutely mauled by Michigan two more years in a row, you think he's staying through that?

I think they're one more MIchigan blowout in a row from him going into an official hot seat year.
Yeah, he would be hot seat. But not gone. After that though..

I agree with your general sentiment. I have very little confidence in him going forward as it is.

Ohio State has been looking to promote Keenan Bailey at some point. He's considered a rising star in the coaching industry. Wouldn't be surprised if this serves as the impetus for bumping him up.

Wow, I've done it again.

Seems to be common knowledge (or perhaps perception) at this point OSU is getting killed in NIL. Gene Smith coming out begging for fan donations. The Foundation making a fool of themselves on social media. Pathetic stuff really.

Biddle seemed to say that specific scenario was misquoted though.

This was inevitable. NIL was always just going to end up as booster bidding wars for players, except with the programs themselves affirmatively pushing it as well. And the when you add in the transfer portals, the "college" part of it is starting to feel mighty thin.

Agreed, until it gets reigned in it’ll be the wild west. We all knew that.

What I personally thought was that would be a landscape that gave the Buckeyes, perhaps the number one brand in college football, an edge. For whatever reason it has not.

I have long advocated for paying college football players who aren't there for an academic degree. It's only fair IMO. OTOH, I also think athletes should be able to be drafted into the NFL directly out of high school. The current rules are arbitrary and serve no purpose other than to save NFL teams from mistakes. If a guy doesn't get drafted and still has eligibility left let him go back to college (if some team will have him). What would it harm?

I hope that OSU is playing it safe until the NCAA sets better guidelines so they don't get screwed with any penalties. A bit trigger shy since SEC and other conferences play by two different sets of disciplinary rules.

2023 class is still top 5? and in 24 they already have the top two overall recruits.

I personally don’t think it’s something that gets “reigned in”. I think the more likely scenario is a split of divisions, potentially with college football and basketball operating as a separate entity.

The time to reign in NIL was to do it preemptively 10-15 years ago. By the time they had court cases getting into the Supreme Court it was way too late.

I think they will have to create a structure where all players are getting paid for anything to change. Players can still get their own individual deals, but the collectives aren’t going to be taken out of the game at this point.

I don't think colleges should be able to pay players, but I agree with the rest of it. Make them draftable/signable upon graduation from high school, and let them go to college if they don't get signed/drafted.

I guess if they do the latter the former is less supportable.
