Game Thread | Game #36 | Cavs @ Pacers | Dec. 29, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Objectively, this was a good game overall. Frustrating as a Cavs fan thanks to these shit refs and JBB's stupid decisions. Garland was out there with an injured hand.

Why risk it in fucking December? Why is Okoro on the bench when he was killing them with great D and solid cuts? Why do we never have set plays in clutch time and just go for garbage iso midrangers like this is the 06 Lakers?

Until we can this coaching staff and grab either a respected vet coach or one of these rising young guys (Jordi Fernandez?) The ceiling is low. Stop hiring mediocre to terrible retreads. I dont think Lowe or Walton are that much an improvement over JBB

if the Cavs aren’t good, what are the other 24 teams in the league with the same record of worse?

I mean are you under the impression that the majority of league all his pretty losses?

We are what we are. A team developing, learning, having ups and downs as we navigate through an 82 game regular season that then culminates with the playoffs.

The overwhelming majority of the league also has 13/14 losses or more.

It’s wild that when we lose, are losses are like the world ending but meanwhile, we still have a top6-7 record in the league.

So what are those other teams?

Now that is as of tonight. Certainly if the Cavs ended up in the Play In bracket by season end or lose in the first round against a lesser seed, that would be a disappointment.

But this shit is a journey. It’s a ride. It’s a rollercoaster. And that’s how it is for the vast majority of the league too. Just seems like a lot of our fans aren’t cut out for the ups and downs of a roller coaster and would feel safer on a merry go round
What I hope he means is that we're not a championship good.

I'm sure I'll get crucified for this but I would take Myles Turner over either Allen or Mobley.
There’s certainly an argument to be made for Turner over Allen, defintely on the offensive end, so nails and cross for you on that one.

But it’s just massively shortsighted to consider Turner over Mobley. Up you go

Cavs just aren’t good. They have pieces but they aren’t good. Their depth is awful, 3p shooting is awful, coaching is awful, toughness is awful. We lack guys that can contribute in a legitimate way like other teams have. Guys like Stevens and Okoro are decent end of the bench and situational guys, but they can’t get the minutes they continue to get on this team. Altman has a lot to work to do. I don’t know how you change this teams toughness without changing the coach. It just has to happen at this point.
I don't agree with this. I think the Cavs can be a very dangerous team, but they have the wrong coach. Giving JBB the rein over this team is like giving a blind man a supercar. We have an athletic starting lineup led by two shifty guards, but we play at a snail's pace.

What I hope he means is that we're not a championship good.
Any of us could have told him that at any point this season. Why that would be the metric of judgement for this season alone is beyond me.

Y'all gotta stop with this ref nonsense. We're second tier in the east, there's no conspiracy theory against the Cavs. We're a pretty good team, top six seed and maybe win a playoff series. Stop with the ref shit . . .
Usually not that big a deal but these refs were really shit for both teams. Just awful calls all around. Phantom fouls on both teams. That garbage goaltend. Missing very obvious hand slaps on driving players. Carslile getting tossed was for good reason. I've seen better referring in intramural college games

Aaron Nesmith played a heck of a game (not to mention Hield, Halliburton, and Mathurin, as well). I never realized he was this hood, but evidently the Pacers saw something to trade Brogdon for him (everybody else were fillers)
Yeah, he’s who took over for Garland at Vandy when Garland got hurt in college. Actually he was third string and the second string guy didn’t play well, ended up being a G leaguer. Amazing Vandy of all teams had that loaded of a backcourt.

A night Donovan Mitchell should have dropped 56 to get the win…..

Otherwise……. Can we remove Evan Mobley from the 12 & under table ?

That's a coaching/FO failure. They know in this league you need two way players and a coach who can adapt. We jumped the gun on the rebuild IMO.
The Pacers have an embarrassment of riches when it comes to 3 point shooting and the Cavs are paupers. That aside, officiating is becoming a problem for the Cavs and the organization needs a response.

This game started exactly the same as the Raptors game with 4 very bad calls in the interior (two against Mobley and two against Love) with the offensive players initiating contact and getting calls. It makes it very hard to stay out at three point line if you have to wall off the paint at the same time.

Anyway, if opposing players are going to be able to lean into Allen, Mobley and Okoro, and get calls, the Cavs are going to have a rough go of it. If last year's POE is dead, the league should say it.

I don’t mind ups and downs! But the entire early part of this season this team fails to guard the three point line. We consistently leave people wiiiiiiiiiiiide open looks from the line! That’s not developing or learning. That’s one of two things…laziness or poor coaching!

O really goaltend bullshit call? Allen levert getting drilled on one end and pacers get all the calls on the other end. Or that play Mathurin poke the ball from levert and is pacers ball that’s just on top of my head. If you think refs aren’t gucking us in the ass idk what game you watching.
