Game Thread | Game #36 | Cavs @ Pacers | Dec. 29, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Of the 3 straight losses, nothing good from jb. Tonight really exposed him when the other team is structural outplayed, but lucky shooting.

if the Cavs aren’t good, what are the other 24 teams in the league with the same record of worse?

I mean are you under the impression that the majority of league all his pretty losses?

We are what we are. A team developing, learning, having ups and downs as we navigate through an 82 game regular season that then culminates with the playoffs.

The overwhelming majority of the league also has 13/14 losses or more.

It’s wild that when we lose, are losses are like the world ending but meanwhile, we still have a top6-7 record in the league.

So what are those other teams?

Now that is as of tonight. Certainly if the Cavs ended up in the Play In bracket by season end or lose in the first round against a lesser seed, that would be a disappointment.

But this shit is a journey. It’s a ride. It’s a rollercoaster. And that’s how it is for the vast majority of the league too. Just seems like a lot of our fans aren’t cut out for the ups and downs of a roller coaster and would feel safer on a merry go round
If you look at the record in a vacuum… sure they are good. But the effort it takes for them to win games is insane compared to some of these teams. I’m talking about good in the context of playoff teams… this team has GLARING holes and they are starting to get bigger. The coach has to go, they need a legitimate offensive scheme, they need toughness. They will go nowhere as constructed

Cavs coverage could not possibly be any worse. The writers, studio shows, etc. It’s all so awful.
They treat the team with kiddie gloves. The only guy who is ever somewhat critical is Lloyd and he hasn't been on the Cavs beat since Griff left.

I don’t mind ups and downs! But the entire early part of this season this team fails to guard the three point line. We consistently leave people wiiiiiiiiiiiide open looks from the line! That’s not developing or learning. That’s one of two things…laziness or poor coaching!
It’s been a very bad stretch the last three games in terms of 3P% allowed but coming into tonight we were 15 of 30 for the season in that category. So room for improvement by burg players and coaches but not what we’ve seen the past three games.

Obviously if the trend and percentages form the past three games become the norm and not just a small trend, that would be a massive concern and require a big change in scheme adjustment, personnel, or coaching personnel.

I am an advocate for the ups and downs of a season to play out and then making necessary decisions after the final results. Not making extreme judgements or proclamations off small or even medium length stretches of games

Sounds good bud.
I think I’ll watch it unfold over the course of time if you don’t mind. But you’re welcome to your opinions

If Okoro was 1-5 with 2 points and hiding in a corner, he’d have played 30 minutes. He’s 4-4, moving well off the ball and making plays and gets 21.

I just can't get my mind where my expectations should be.

They made the Mitchell trade and gave up a lot. And yes, it was a lot.

So, in my mind, they're supposed to be competing for at, minimum, an ECF appearance this year based on that alone.

Yet my mind tells me the roster isn't yet experienced enough or well rounded enough to do that. That they aren't as good as the Bucks, Celtics, Nets, or Sixers. The names on the back of their jerseys + their experience is just better than ours.

Ok, but then back to my first point: if you give up 3 unprotected picks and 2 swaps and your lottery pick from this season and Lauri Markennen....doesn't that just demand you compete for an ECF?

Just can't quite figure out where to put my expectations.

Really inexcusable for the broadcast crew not to give us some insight as to the extent of DG’s injury

Putting Garland back in for Okoro was just a reeally, really bad call at the time and proven to be bad as the game went on.

Well, you’re right. As of today.

The big issue is, Garland and Mitchell - despite the offensive efficiency - aren’t a good pairing. It’s bad and will be broken up at some point.

Hopefully Koby isn’t the one making that deal.

It’s not that DG and Spida are a bad pairing, it’s just that you can’t have 3 other non shooters starting with them. Having JA and Mobley to clog the paint plus allowing teams to sag off our 3 is a disaster for our guards. It’s a poorly constructed team and Koby better get off his ass and fix it. Guarantee you o could find 2-3 shooters in the g-league that would fit this team better than the non shooters we keep trotting out there.

I’m sorry. I thought this was a Cavs message board and you’re the one who responded to my initial post…no one told you to do or not do anything… and you’re right… the whole point of this place is opinions. Goodness… this place is as soft as the team.

Damn will any of the media actually press JB on some of these issues? Goodness, such a mediocre press conference
Exactly, for him to repeatedly say that we played Pacers basketball and not Cavs…well, who’s fault is that? Isn’t that incumbent upon the coaching staff to make certain that doesn’t happen ? SMH
