Week 11 : Steelers @ Browns

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
both for sure.....he isnt this bad, but he is bad.

Picket is bad, he needs a glove to be able to grip the ball enough to even throw it. He’s not very accurate

News flash to everyone... If a pass hits the receiver in both hands they should catch the ball. And every pass that isn't perfectly in stride isn't always a bad pass, because Watson and now DTR are trying to minimize risk of interception by throwing to the side of the receiver that is away from the defender.

Now DTR did have a few really bad throws today. One sideline route badly behind the receiver when he needed to lead the ball towards the sideline comes to mind. He also threw a lot of balls away, which I agree with. But a lot of the drops plus the intercepted pass were balls that NFL receivers should come down with 90% of the time.

Guys holy shit, it’s not that difficult to understand

Everyone is hyped that we won

now some posters are thinking forward to the next weeks. If you just want to ejaculate post for 48 hours due to 2 giant divisional wins back to back go for it! I’m gonna be celebrating tonight too!

But like the offense just averaged 3.5 YPA. Thats unreasonably bad. Our defense won the game. It’s ok to say that and not treat a truly terrible offensive performance like it was actually good

I had to look at the boxscore because I just had to believe I was misremembering the game.

Jaylen Warren had 9 carries.

That's the final straw for me watching a Pittsburgh game until Mike Tomlin sacks the fuck up and fires Matt Canada. Which he won't do.

Grats on the win. I was under illusion this Steelers team was good or anything. Just enjoying the extreme luck.

Hopefully it runs all the way out and they crash and burn and Art Rooney might actually have to fire someone.

Are people seriously bitching about DTR?

Steelers have made even experienced QB's look bad. DTR hung in there, made throws, and gave us a game-winning drive. He wasn't great, but he was certainly good enough.
The goal isn’t to look flashy or crisp, the goal is to win games. We kept the game in front of us the whole way, and managed the clock to victory.

I assume had we fallen behind 10-0, the gameplay would have been very different.

He was terrible and if we would have lost almost no one would be disputing that

It’s just like denying reality at this point. He was good enough to win because we have a once in a decade defense. The standards are on the floor

It's also okay to not shit all over a rookie quarterback who just led us to a win against the Steelers. People all over this thread saying they're "done" with DTR. People calling for Flacco to start next week. GMAFB.

Coaching staff played the first half as about I expected: Try to lean on the run game, give DTR some easy throws, get the ball out quick, and don't put DTR in spots to create turnovers.. Browns were getting into more 3rd and manageable situations leading to more productive drives..

In the second half, Browns kept the same approach but the Steelers were sitting on everything... The run game was clogged up, the quick passes weren't there and were killing themselves with early down negative plays.. Here's a list of 3rd downs in the 2nd half: 3&10, 3&8, 3&5, 3&10, 3&15, 3&14, 3&22, 3&7... Those are just not realistic conversion opportunities no matter who is back there..

Offensive staff will have to figure out how to adjust given how the Steelers played them in the 2nd half and now that the Broncos have a full game worth of game plan to watch...

I understand the approach: You have a rookie QB going against the Steelers without his best offensive playmaker, without the top two tackles, and coming off a similar spot where he got wrecked... If you want to give DTR a shot the rest of the season, this very well could have been a game you ruin him by asking him to do too much...

But you're going to have to figure out how to create some more space and explosive plays... Two touches for Strong is too few when this team needs some speed and chunk yardage..

The balance the whole game was trying to walk the line of what's asking DTR to keep defense honest and asking him to do too much.. You can open it up but too much too soon has already been proven ineffective, and some of DTR's throws were behind and/or high, leading to turnover opportunities...

It's an understandable game plan but coaching staff is really going to have to earn their playcheck on how they pivot from here..

Heckuva drive by DTR to finish the game.. Hopefully it's something to build off of, and that combined with this win gives him some confidence moving forward..

He'll sign tomorrow.

The question is how quickly until they get him in the game. I think he'll make his debut on 12/3.

Unless the Browns beat the Broncos...
Yep, Rams game. Two weeks to prepare for it. It’s a week by week basis with the QB position moving forward is how I feel about the situation.

DTR>PJ that's all I can guarantee. Going back to PJ is taking steps backwards. Signing Flacco is a better move.

Flacco hasn't thrown a pass in a professional setting in ten months and wasn't even in a training camp this year... Expecting him to come in with a week or two worth of practice to be productive is unrealistic..

Your best bet moving forward is DTR continuing to progress and build off of each performance...

Flacco's value will be another set of veteran eyes for the rookie in the lockeroom, and providing a "do not break in case of emergency" veteran who is not PJ Walker..

Today was an important day of whether or not Browns could operate with DTR moving forward.. Him getting this win is a big way forward in hopefully being able to answer the bell..
