Justin Campbell (Prev: 24)
Dayan Frias (Prev: 26)
Doug Nikhazy (Prev: 27)
C.J. Kayfus (Prev: 30)

Frias didn't deserve to be dropped off and Campbell should still be on the list

My #25 prospect in the organization and one of my favorites to breakout in 2024.

First roster moves of the spring:

+Optioned RHP Daniel Espino and OF George Valera to @CLBClippers

I feel like, no surprise here! Both are injured/coming off of injury

MLB Pipeline just updated each team's Top 30 prospects. Here are the Guardians new Top 30:

1. Chase DeLauter
2. Kyle Manzardo
3. Brayan Rocchio
4. Daniel Espino
5. Ralphy Velazquez
6. Jaison Chourio
7. Juan Brito
8. George Valera
9. Alex Clemmey
10. Angel Martinez
11. Joey Cantillo
12. Angel Genao
13. Welbyn Francisca
14. Jackson Humphries
15. Deyvison De Los Santos
16. Kahlil Watson
17. Petey Halpin
18. Johnathan Rodriguez
19. Robert Arias
20. Jake Fox
21. Jose Devers
22. Alex Mooney
23. Parker Messick
24. Jose Tena
25. Rafael Ramirez Jr.
26. Cade Smith
27. Andrew Walters
28. Will Dion
29. Jhonkensy Noel
30. Franco Aleman
Pretty good list overall, but Rocchio doesn't deserve to be #3 with his low ceiling and Valera's injuries have dinged him down a bit. Martinez should be in the top 10 after his 2023 and so should Cantillo. After DeLauter and Manzardo I don't care which order Brito, Velazquez, Chourio, Martinez or Cantillo are in.

Key with Espino is no 60-day DL yet .... more so as they don't want to incur the service time this spring for those 60-days (I assume)

If we plan on having Manzardo (or like I said in the GM thread a possible JD Davis type stopgap) plus Carrasco added, we can't keep the roster as is... someone won't make this team... Maybe Stephan to the 60?

I brought it up a few weeks ago and someone suggested I was being too deep ... But, if Carrasco makes team, will we keep Lively on 40 as he is also out of options??? Don't think Stephan's injury is 60-day as he wasn't going to throw for 3 or so weeks which is before start of season.

Let's see what happens with de la Santos.. If he isn't retained & returned to Arizona that is a 40 man spot opened for someone else.
If an injury issue with Stepahn or Karinchek doesn't respond to rest now, a 60 day IL a trip might be in order. No reason to make that determination today/ this week.
Lively and one of the CF group could also get removed from the 40 man.

All of this to say: there are multiple ways to create a couple 40 spots if one of the prospects or NRI players force themselves onto the roster due to their great play in spring training.

I think Lively has an option remaining Pete. Don't hold me to that though.

zero (0) options for Lively..

The bone bruise with Stephon can linger and become a major issue if he isn't fully, 100 %... it's a scary as fuck type "pre-injury" that can and has progressed to vastly more serious levels of injury...

A 60 day IL wouldn't be the worst idea.. but, that is pure speculation...

I thought one article said he did, but both fangraphs and MLBtraderumors say he doesn't, so I guess he's on the roster with the injury to Karinchak and Stephan!

But, with Kar and Stephan out, you add Cookie as a Long-man and maybe Curry too ... the issue will be high end - back end guys that Smith, Herrin and Gaddis could be better options for ....
