well i have to admit i forgot the draft lottery was yesterday because the Cavaliers currently are without draft picks. as mentioned in other threads there are those rumors out there that might get the Cavaliers back into the 1st rd. most presume that the Cleveland is looking to get one of the PG's which is definately a need for this club.

however say they are picking somewhere between 8-14 which most likely means Paul and Williams are gone, true there is still Felton and Jack but could the Cavaliers go in another direction?

say you have big men on the board like Channing Frye, Chris Taft, Charlie Villanuava on the board do you go that way? a front line with Lebron, Anderson, and one of those guys could look very good for the future. maybe you are playing without that true center like Z, but those guys are a dying breed and these guys may be the best option.

what if the Cavaliers are in a position where they could take a guy like Gerald Green? maybe he doesn't help right away but if he becomes a McGrady type player down the road he would look nice paired up with Lebron.

of coarse none of this matters if Cleveland can't move back into the 1st rd.

also wonder who you guys see as 2nd rd steals?

a couple guys i like are Daniel Ewing, Jawad Willams, Sean Banks, Eddie Basden

i am a little surprised to see that NBADraft.net has Ronnie Turiaf and Francisco Garcia as 2nd rd picks so i would consider them as a major steal.

other guys i find interesting
David Lee because of his athletiscm

Salim Stoudamire won't be a starter in the NBA because he is very small for a 2 and has never really shown he is a PG, but could be a nice scorer off the bench for someone.

Julius Hodge even though i was never overly impressed by him in college. but he does seem like he could be a Jamal Crawford type NBA player.

Bracey Wright is a little small for a NBA 2 and has battled some injuries but i think there is a lot of talent there.

John Gilchrist has the talent but seems to be a bit of a head case.

Could we get screwed anymore this year. Phoenix looks like it will be swept by SA this year with Joe Johnson. This pretty much guarentees they'll match any offer form

Now the freakin Bucks get the #1 pick. Redd had no freakin reason to stay with the Bucks (he would have made slightly more money but not a whole lot) and know suddenly the Bucks will get freakin Bogut. A linup of Bogut/Smith/Mason/Redd/Ford looks darn good. Not a good day for Cavs fans

I'm really not too upset that the Cavs don't have their #1. I don't see this as a great draft. Most projections don't have anyone that great who would have been available if the Cavs did still have their 13th overall pick.

It does still seem that they're looking to trading back into the draft for a #1. I just hope they don't give up much to do it because I can't see it being possible to trade for a top 10 pick and a lower #1 doesn't as much value this year.
The top PG's wil go in the top 10. Jack is the only one who should be available later. I'm not crazy about any of the PF's like Taft, Frye or Villanueva.

I do think Julius Hodge could be a solid player. He might be like Josh Howard a couple of years ago. A 4 year college player who's solid but not spectacular, slips to the late 1st round, and then steps in and makes a good contribution.

Actually, on the flip side, you have to see why Phoenix is losing. They have no bench. Hunter plays <10 minutes, as does Barbosa, and the starters play the rest. It would make sense for Phoenix to spread that money out to get some quality backups and add some depth to their team. If they invest it all in JJ, then they'll be too thin. People don't stay healthy forever, I'm sure every GM would know this. So, Phoenix losing might be a good thing.

how many can phx lock up ?

#1 amare is next season -they will try to do it before he become unrestricted.

#2 nash- is locked up to a huge deal

#3 shawn marion- is or is about to get locked up

#4 q-rich - signed last season.

how are they going to fit J.J into that cap. they have to have some type of bench.

but they also need a talented bench.. the thing that scare me with it is, they need defenders and J.J is their second best defender after "THE MATRIX"

man.. if we could get into the later part of the draft, i would be thrilled

the two guys that i would like to get a hand on are.

#1 FRANCISCO GARCIA-- reminds me of a bit smaller TAYSHAUN PRINCE, he's athletic and LOOOONG --he can do everything on the court- score, pass, rebound, handle the rock, and defend. ...yet he's not getting the "pub" like the younger guys with these great phrases
"UPSIDE" and the famous "POTENTIAL"

#2 JULIUS HODGE- now this might be a stretch, but he reminds me of a thinner RON ARTEST. now before you say "WHAT" ? .. IF you've ever watched him play, you should know that he goes all out at 1000%.. gives it everything he has.. he looks like he would run thru a brick wall for his team.. he's quick with a great first step, can also handle the ball, and great on the ball defender - which at 6-6 is a great thing..

if you guys watched the early part of the playoffs-- did you see what the young damien wilkins did for the sonics ? i don't believe he even got drafted..

i want to get some of these college expierenced players..

Workout news

Even though the Cavaliers don't currently have a draft pick (they're contemplating trading back in), it won't prevent them from working out players. They have workouts scheduled on Wednesday and Thursday at Gund Arena.

Those working out Wednesday will be Maryland guard John Gilchrist (6-foot-3, 190 pounds), UTEP guard Filiberto Rivera (6-2, 175), Georgia Tech guard Will Bynum (6-0, 185), Alabama-Birmingham guard Donell Taylor (6-6, 185), Illinois forward Roger Powell (6-6, 220), Oakland guard/forward Rawle Marshall (6-7, 190), Auburn guard Toney Douglas (6-1, 190) and Pepperdine guard Alex Acker (6-5, 190).

I like Gilchrist out of all of those, suprised to see his stock fall so low though.

Gilchrist has a bad reputation and is known to have a questionable attitude. Not sure if I'd want him. It says something when those in the Maryland program aren't at all sad to see him go.
He does have some talent though.

bynum reminds of a explosive willie green that plays for philly..

i believe bynum will be an nba scoring machine "BOOK IT"!!!!!!!!

either that or WAGNER :(
