There was no "pull and turn"...players thumb inadvertently hit the facemask, which is not a penalty, then pulled the shoulder pad...complete digression call there, but the hit was not against the NFLs own rules.

Tough call to make in real time, but the ref who called it had no clear view of the play since he was behind it, hence the controversy.

just finally watched a replay. I can kinda see why lions fans are upset, but still facemask. Its really difficult to argue that shouldnt be a facemask when there is clear contact with the facemask and rodgers head swung (even if it was probably voluntary)

That doesn't make it a facemask...contact with a facemask ≠ a facemask penalty. Like I said, that play was a discretion call...so tell me if the ref was in a position to throw that flag because he saw the play clearly?

okay so it should have been illegal hands to the face? contact with the facemask plus force (which there clearly was). This is lions fans/ref haters digging at something that doestn exist.

i would also argue that as the NFL said, that call is going to get called every single time. Hands clearly in the area of the facemask and rodgers head snapped backed. The guy that made the call may not have been in the best position, but the guy on the other side of the play clearly didnt didnt try and say no

Curious...do you think this was called a facemask?

It wasn't, and that is by far a more blatant facemask than the play on Rodgers...know why? Cause when the refs can't actually see it, it becomes a discretion call...this is part of the problem...one was flagged, one was not, and it was all based on how the ref felt at the moment.

But, you know, "that call is going to get called every single time"...
