2009-2010 Pre-Season Game 2 VS Bobcats

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
No right three times. Hickson is playing better then AV, period. It is pre-season, and we have to see if he remains as potent, but if he does his post play, blocks, points, def rebounds, off rebounds, everything, are superior, and he demands guarding on offense. Colby is playing better then chuck it up and miss gibson. I would rather Colby be 2-6 and 2-5 then 5-12 and 1-3. Colby had rebounds and can pass better. West is highly overrated on this board, he's average, and Parker is a better player, good shooter, good from 3, rebounds, assists, defense ,sorry he is better. Of course stats are stats and it is just an opinion, which everyone is entitled too.

Listen, there's no doubt that J.J Hickson has stellar potential and offensive talent, but let me give you a slight reality check.

-J.J. Hickson is having a good training camp, he's looked good, but it's the pre-season. He's playing on house money right now, but he has yet to prove himself when things truly matter. I believe he will, and I believe he will eventually be the starter. But for now, Anderson Varejao is truly an elite defender at the 4 position. He's so important to this team, it's not even funny. He covered up the deficiencies Big Z had all year last year, and will continue to do the same for Shaq and probably won't get the recognition he deserves. But the Cavs know how important he is, as is evidenced by his new contract. His ability to move without the ball, his basketball IQ, and his finishing around the rim even though he's not a monster dunker are also good attributes.

You'll see what I mean against Boston in the opener. When Kevin Garnett gets that ball at the top of the key or in the post, you're going to be glad that Anderson Varejao is starting instead of J.J. Hickson.

-Coby Karl is not better than Boobie Gibson. Sorry. Gibson is a bonafide NBA player and can fill a role. Coby Karl is fighting to become the butt-slapping specialist. Gibson has proven to be a reliable NBA shooter when healthy, and he has also proven to be a big-game performer in the playoffs. (Yes, even last year when he drained four threes in game 5 to extend the Orlando series). Karl's a terrible defender for his size, he lacks quickness, and he's an unproven commodity as a shooter. Sorry, you're just wrong here. Coby Karl is not better than Boobie Gibson. If he's such a good facilitator, why did he only have one assist?

-Delonte West is better than Anthony Parker. Parker has undoubtedly lost a step at his age, however....he's still a valuable role player, but he's not as good as Delonte. Delonte shot a better % from the field, he averaged just as many assists, and Parker only edged him out by less than one rebound per game while having a distinct height advantage.

As far as the defensive end goes, anyone who doesn't think Delonte is an elite defender is kidding themselves. Delonte West, last year, was tough as nails, and he could hang with ANYONE..regardless of height or skill. He held Rip Hamilton and Joe Johnson consiedrably under their season averages while giving up 4 inches to the two current and former all-stars. Parker can no longer handle a man by himself, he is a very intelligent team defender and won't get torched by anyone except the absolute best..but Delonte West doesn't get torched by ANYBODY.

Delonte West was also the heart and soul of this team last year, and it was evident when he missed time with a broken wrist, it was evident when he was clearly our second best playoff performer(for the second year in a row, I might add), and it was evident even this off-season when after all his problems, he continues to have the support and care from any real fan.

I know it's nice to get new toys, and some new toys are awesome and better than your old toys(Shaq)but I went through all kinds of toys that I liked(Parker, Hickson, Moon), yet my old set of Lego's was still the best option I had(Varejao, Delonte, Gibson).

Did anyone mention that that dunk that Lebron had was borderline unrealistic?

^ I agree that Delonte is overrated on this board. People act like he is a star player when he is nothing more then a role player (a good one though). Anthony Parker is definitely as good as him or better.

I like Delonte though don't get me wrong. He gives us more versatality and better defense. I want him backing up Mo at the PG spot.

Hickson is proving me wrong big time but it is preseason. I just hope he can do this when we play the likes of the Celtics, Magic, and Lakers.

MIke Brown better give him minutes if he makes mistakes he will learn from it. You can't sit him down and let his confidence go down the drain.

so you want Delonte to play 12-15 minutes per game despite him being our 2nd best playoff performer the past two years and having a stellar regular season?

Why do people think our next 5 guys will all play together as a 2nd unit? It baffles me. I think Mo will lead the 2nd unit as our point guard just like last year. Mo, Parker or Moon, Z, Hickson (or Darnell) and either Lebron or West wiill be on the floor with our 2nd unit. There won't be a full 5 for 5 substitution pattern. I think if at all we will have all of our starters out of the game at once unless its a blow out. I believe that Mo, Delonte and Parker will fill up at least 90% of the guard minutes when it matters (minus blow outs). Lebron will play his 85% of the minutes when it matters (minus blowouts). AV-Moon-Hickson-Parker will fill up the rest of the SF minutes and the PF minutes. Shaq and Z will fill up 90-95% of the Center minutes. Darnell Jackson probably will play a little if Hickson fails. Boobie will play more when Delonte, Mo or Parker is out. Danny Green and Leon Powe (when he comes back) are x-factors. Powe might cut into the PF when he comes back and might force Hickson to play almost no minutes. Danny Green I doubt will get alot of minutes at any point unless there are injuries. I could see Danny Green if an injury occurs coming in and playing well and earning some extra minutes at times this year but I don't think he'll be a permanent part of the rotation.
