Didn't know where to post this...

Will there be one this year??

Re: Wine and Gold Scrimmage this year?

Not sure but I hope so. I missed it last year.

Definitely won't miss it this year. They're super fun, and like 10 min from my house.

Re: Wine and Gold Scrimmage this year?

Yeah, I went last year and it was alot of fun, this year should be better with Shaq

Re: Wine and Gold Scrimmage this year?

Not sure if any info has been released this year, but it's typically the first week of October. Last year it was the 4th and the year before it was the 5th. So keep that week in mind if you plan on going.

What is a Wine and Gold scrimmage?

Re: Wine and Gold Scrimmage this year?

It's a scrimmage in Akron, the Cavs divide into 2 teams and play against each other

I remember when they had it at Kent State

It's usually on the first Friday of training camp, which I'd guess to be October 2nd.

CLEVELAND, OH - August 25, 2009 - For the sixth consecutive year, The University of Akron’s Rhodes Arena will be home to the Cavaliers Wine & Gold Scrimmage presented by FirstMerit, in association with the Akron Beacon Journal, Ohio.com, and WAKR Radio. The intra-squad scrimmage will be held on Saturday, October 3rd at 12:00 p.m. and is free to the public with an entrance voucher. It will be the first opportunity for fans to see four-time NBA Champion Shaquille O’Neal in a Cavs uniform, as well as reigning MVP LeBron James, 2009 NBA All-Star Mo Williams and the rest of the Cavs roster as they get ready for the start of the 2009-10 season.

Beginning Monday, August 31st, vouchers (limit of four per person) will be available while supplies last at all FirstMerit branches located in Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage, Stark, Summit and Wayne counties. Although the scrimmage is open to fans of all ages, only those 18 years or older may pick up vouchers.

Vouchers must be redeemed for free general admission tickets (one ticket per voucher) at The University of Akron box office or the Quicken Loans Arena box office. Seating capacity is limited, therefore receiving a voucher does not guarantee an admission ticket. Fans are encouraged to redeem their vouchers (beginning Aug. 31st) for tickets prior to the day of the scrimmage.

The special preseason event will include a fun-filled outdoor Fan Fest featuring many interactive games and activities for the whole family. The Cavalier Girls will meet and greet fans, the Scream Team will perform and mascot Moondog will be unleashed and up to his mischievous antics. Fan Fest will be held outside Rhodes Arena starting at 10:00 a.m. It is free to the public and a ticket is not required. Doors for the scrimmage will open at 11:00 a.m. A general admission ticket (as detailed above) is required for the actual scrimmage inside the arena.

Every fan in attendance at the scrimmage will receive a 2009 Wine & Gold Scrimmage T-shirt presented by FirstMerit. Click Here for FirstMerit locations.
