Thought it'd be fun to make some predictions about this new eastern conference. Rank them according to what you think right now and we can check back in here throughout the season to sling some "I told you so".

My prediction:

1. Heat 60-22
2. Magic 59-23
3. Celtics 53-29
4. Hawks 52-30
5. Bulls 50-32
6. Bucks 49-33
7. Knicks 42-40
8. Cavs 41-41

9. Bobcats 41-41
10. Pacers 39-43
11. Wizards 35-47
12. 76ers 31-51
13. Nets 28-54
14. Pistons 28-54
15. Raptors 26-56

Edit: While we're at it...

EC Playoff Prediction:

Round 1
Heat over Cavs (David v Goliath, with everyone on our side...but in the end, we go down fighting in 4, and proud)
Magic over Knicks (sweep)
Celtics over Bucks (Bucks nearly take it from the geezers)
Bulls over Hawks (Bulls take the next step)

EC Semis
Heat over Bulls (hard fought goes to 7)
Magic over Celtics (easier than expected, in 6)

ECF
Magic over Heat (Howard finally dominates...and of course, Lebron quits)

Since when were the Hornets in the East? :chuckles:

I'm thinking the Nets will be a bit better, and that the Bobcats are going to have a real tough time scoring the ball.

I think Philly will be much better with an Turner/Iggy combo as well.

Turner has looked lost thus far. I also think they're gonna realize how under-rated Dalembert's D was now that he's gone.

2. Magic 61-21
3. Hawks 52-30
4. Celtics 50-32
5. Bulls 50-32
6. Bucks 49-33
7. Knicks 44-38
8. Cavs 42-40

1. Miami Heat 68-14
2. Orlando Magic 59-23
3. Boston Celtics 52-30
4. Milwaukee Bucks 50-32
5. Atlanta Hawks 50-32
6. Chicago Bulls 47-35
7. New York Knicks 42-40
8. Charlotte Bobcats 39-43
9. Indiana Pacers 37-45
10. Cleveland Cavaliers 31-51

13. Detroit Pistons 29-53
14. Washington Wizards 28-54
15. Toronto Raptors 14-68

I don't see the heat winning 60, maybe 55. The problem with them is wade is going to get hurt a lot, and Lebron is going to suffer his first major injury this year. Bosh is going to be in the position wade was most of last year, playing with a subpar team.

I also think the cavs win 45-48 games. I don't give a crap about the other 13 teams in the east. As a matter of fact I don't care about the heat, I just wanted to make the point that they are not going to win 60 as everyone is predicting.

Finally Cavs finish 6th in the east not 8th.

OK, I get it...I'm a bit older than you obviously and we gray-beards have senior moments.

So anyway, anyone have predictions?

Sorry, I was replying to the guy who said, "Since when are the Hornets in the East?". I'm not a gray beard and I still call them the Charlotte Hornets much of the time.

1. Miami Heat 68-14
2. Orlando Magic 59-23
3. Boston Celtics 52-30
4. Milwaukee Bucks 50-32
5. Atlanta Hawks 50-32
6. Chicago Bulls 47-35
7. New York Knicks 42-40
8. Charlotte Bobcats 39-43
9. Indiana Pacers 37-45
10. Cleveland Cavaliers 31-51
11. New Jersey Nets 31-51
12. Philadelphia 76ers 30-52
13. Detroit Pistons 29-53
14. Washington Wizards 28-54
15. Toronto Raptors 14-68

Really, 68 wins? Come on...you gotta read something other than ESPN.com

LeBron James won 66 and 61 games here (the latter could have won 68-69 if things broke right and the team kept playing their starters at the end of the year) with teams that can't come close to the talent boasted on this Heat team. I hate that he's there too, but I'm not going to let that hate get in the way of talent evaluation.

And even if the Heat don't win 68, the main point is that they will be far and away the #1 team in the East should they stay healthy.
