2012 Free Agent List

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Wonder what the money is like for Rush. We should then half that, and offer it to Gee.

Reportedly, GSW has in the neighborhood of $3M/year to offer Rush. Cavs already have a standing one year offer of $2.7M for Gee.

Yeah. But im sure the Cavs want to get Gee on a multi year deal for around the same value. The 3 is one of our weakest positions, when we do get our 3 of the future, Gee will be a solid bench player. His off the court attitude is top notch, a hard working guy looking to get better every day. And if we end up with a log jam at the 3 in a year or two... he could be an attractive trade asset if he continues to develop.

All positives if he signs a reasonable contract. That's much more attractive than him heading into unrestricted free agency after another year of development. He could make another big step next year and skyrocket his value heading into UFA

Can the cavs offer a incentive contract to Gee. Such as 3 years at 3 million a year, then bonus to make it a 3 year 18 million?

No. Teams would be circumventing the cap left and right if they could magically make a 9 million dollar contract turn into an 18 million dollar contract.

I'm sure the will put some bonuses in there. The situation seems to call for that, but the bonuses can only be 15% of the contract amount in the new CBA. So if Gee's contract is for 3 years, $10 Mil, the Cavs can only put a total of $1.5 mil in incentive based bonuses on it.

From Mark Stein: Warriors agreement for Brandon Rush, as with Carl Landry, is $8 million over two years with Rush holding a player option for Year 2.

Also: GSW likely over luxury tax now. Doesn't matter. It's about where they are at season's end. They won't be over tax come April.

Brandon Rush re-signs.

Warriors, Rush agree on two-year deal

The Warriors made it official on Tuesday, re-signing restricted free agent Brandon Rush.

According to Rush’s agent, Mark Bartelstein, his client signed for two years and $8 million. The second year is a player option for Rush.

The signing caps a busy two days for the Warriors and likely puts the finishing touches on the offseason. Golden State’s roster currently sits at 15 players, the league maximum.

The Warriors signed free agent power forward Carl Landry on Monday.

The Warriors had made clear early in the offseason that re-signing Rush, who averaged 9.8 points and 3.9 rebounds per game, was a priority. Rush shot 45.2 percent from 3-point range in 2011-12, sixth in the league.

As a restricted free agent, Rush had the right to sign an offer sheet from another team and then wait for the Warriors to match the offer or not. But Rush had failed to get a qualifying offer, and so wound up coming to terms on a contract with Golden State.

So, who have the Cavs officially (or not officially) been interested in so far this summer free agent wise (still available)? Here are the guys I've seen us linked to 1 way or another:

  • Michael Redd
  • Johnny Flynn
  • CJ Miles
  • Carlos Delfino
  • Anthony Tolliver

Looks like the guard position is something we're interested in bolstering.

Sam The Bullshit Whisperer: When I asked an opposing GM about the Cavs just now, he said, "That roster is screaming for a trade."

I really hope he was talking with Kahn.

Where are you getting up to date salary cap info? So hard to find this time of year. Or are you just estimating based on media reports? I see GS has now signed Draymond Green (3 yr/$2.6M) and has brought back Charles Jenkins at $762K.

They may not end up over the tax threshold, but they may need some help in getting under it. A situation worth monitoring.

I am just listing what the GSW reporters are estimating. I'm not estimating or calculating myself.

Barbosa anyone?

Sources: Barbosa open to Cavs

By Sam The Bullshit Whisperer
With more than $16 million in available salary-cap room, the Cavaliers have yet to make a splash. Or really, much of a move of any sort.

But two months still remain before training camp, and while the lingering free agents hardly qualify as game-changers, teams can still find help. Most of that is of the veteran variety – with names such as Derek Fisher, Michael Redd, Tracy McGrady and many others like them on the market.

Among those types: Leandro Barbosa, a 29-year old combo guard entering his 10th NBA season. Last year, he averaged 12.2 points in 66 combined games with Indiana and Toronto.

Still, Barbosa has drawn little interest in free agency, with no team having made a serious run at his services. Most haven’t even given him a second thought. So Barbosa knows that at this point, a short-term contract most likely awaits.

That could make him a nice find for a team like the Cavs, who wouldn’t mind finding some help in reserve – provided they’re able to preserve their assets and cap space.

And according to several sources close to Barbosa, he’d be more than willing to talk with the Cavs about a potential role. Those sources could not say, however, if the interest was mutual.

Right now, Barbosa is focusing on the Olympics and his role on the Brazilian national team, which also features Cavs forward Anderson Varejao.

Barbosa has spent the majority of his NBA career providing instant offense and energy off the bench as a backup at both guard positions. That’s something the Cavs could use, as their backcourt currently consists of reigning Rookie of the Year Kyrie Irving, lottery pick Dion Waiters and veteran Daniel Gibson, and possibly Sloan and/or recently obtained Jeremy Pargo.

Cavs coach Byron Scott recently told NBA TV the team doesn’t have its eye on anyone specific in free agency.

“Maybe if we can find someone who’s the right fit,” Scott said. “If not, we’re excited to move forward with the young guys we have.”

He's kind of a chucker..wouldn't mind getting him for the cheap though.

We need points. With the current roster as is we probably will have the lowest PPG in the league. Except maybe the Bobcats.
