IMO we should wait untill next year to get a PG, i just have a strong feeling we will pick 3rd behind minnesota and sac town (who would take Irving if he even comes out and Minnesota would take Williams) but when i look at the 2012 PG class it looks like it could be the best/deepest ever

Austin Rivers
Marquis Teague
Maalik Waynes
Cory Joseph
Josh Selby
Jordan Taylor
Bradley Beal
Myck Kabongo
Ray McCallum

(players if they return)
Kyrie Irving
Alec Burks
Brandon Knight
Kemba Walker
Malcolm Lee

are all very good prospects and if i had to rank them

1-Rivers
2-Irving
3-Beal
4-Knight
5-Walker
6-Joseph
7-Walker
8-Waynes
9-Burks
10-Kabongo
11-Selby
12-Teauge
13-McCallum
14-Lee

i like Irving, but i dont wanna handcuff ourselfs and pass up a great talent in next years class at PG and yes i know i list Irving 2nd, but my point is we could get a good PG anywere in the 1st round next year and should get other pieces at stronger positions such as SF/SG this year

If we do that, give me an elite scorer like Jordan Hamilton this year with one of our picks.

That is why I have advocated trading out of the Irving sweepstakes to load up on future picks.

personally only Marquis Teague, and Myck Kabongo have the chance to be top 5-7... and be elite

Austin Rivers and Bradley Beal are more likely to be SG or combo guards...

Rivers and Beal are too small to be SG they can develop passing and dribbling skills, its impossible to tell if they can grow more, Kabongo and Teague dont have the shooting abillity to be picked 5-7

Austin Rivers is a 2 in the NBA. He is 6'4" - 6'5", and his athletecism is very elite (from what I have seen). Any ways I would take Irving this year no matter what, and if it were possible I would take Rivers next year. That backcourt would be rediculous.

Rivers is 6'3, 6'3.5 tops he's never been 6'5

Any pg in our system, if capable, is going to thrive. FWIW, I really like Beal & Kabongo.

Irving may or may not declare for the 2011 draft. With Rivers coming in next year, he might be moved off the ball some though. He has a far better chance of going #1 in 2011 than in 2012.

Austin Rivers is a unique case. Considering that his dad is Doc Rivers and there is no financial need there, it wouldn't surprise me one bit to see him stay at Duke for more than 1 season. I think they'll see how his freshman season goes, but I would be a little surprised if he came out after his freshman year.

If Marquise Teague is anything like his brother, Jeff, then no thanks!

I think there's a decent chance Brandon Knight & Josh Selby declare for the 2011 draft, due to the strength of the 2012 class. Kentucky has Teague coming in next season anyways.

There's also the issue of the impending NBA lockout, which could cause prospects to choose school over the NBA. Then again, there's been some talk that the NBA wants to raise the minimum age and require players be 2 years removed from high school to enter the NBA. The latter could cause players to bolt for the NBA, despite the threat of a lockout.

Selby is a high 2nd if he comes out right now based on his potential, he has played horrible in the few times ive seen him this year he is smart to stay in school at least another year if not 2
if he didnt have the hype potential he did, he would be UDFA

and i dont see Rivers staying in school more then 1 year he would be in the draft if he could be

I think you have to just go into the draft with your board set and then let the chips fall where they do, there is no point shooting yourself in the foot in 2011 on the off chance you might get Rivers, who seems to be steph curry but better. Having too many top tier point guards is not an issue that you lose sleep over. You can always trade one of them.

but passing on talent at other positions and rebuild faster will definatley make many GMs lose sleep when the PGs class is so deep for next year and your trying to rebuild having too many PGs and no talent at other positions is the worst thing that can happen in basketball to a rebuilding team
for as good as Irving is theres a chance he might not even be a top 5 pick next year

The season's not over yet. Selby could still boost his stock in the Big 12 tourney and/or NCAA tourney. Kansas is a very talented team, with the ability to make a championship run.

With regards to Rivers, just saying his decision isn't going to be financially-based, like it will be for some others. They will do what is best for his development.

I personally think Irving is a legitimate franchise guy/gamechanger, and he may be the only sure one in this draft. I love his skill-set. If we have the opportunity to draft him, you have to do it.
