Goddamn the bullpen must be the worst in the league.

Santana is disappointing? How exactly? Him and Brantley are the only two players on team who can actually get on base. They do it in different ways, but it's still valuable.
I think they should consider having Santana hit lead off, with Brantley right behind him at #2. Or if they're content with Kipnis at lead off, put Santana at #2, and Brantley stays in the three spot. Either way, I think the lineup should be constructed to give Brantley an opportunity to drive in Santana, given his superior hitting skill, and Santana being the only other guy on the team who gets on base consistently.
He needs to raise the average. He seems to have the tools to be a better hitter - but I think his mental approach is not there. His stance is indicative of a power hitter, but he's not a true power hitter. If he took an approach more along the lines of Victor Martinez, I think his average would improve 30 or 40 points. In 4 or his 5 full seasons with us he's only hit above .260 once.
He's not a very good fielder and wasn't a very good catcher.
The only thing he does above average is get on base because of all the walks. That is a good thing, of course, but as a "clean-up hitter" not so much.
He's a decent bat in the line-up but I think he could do better. He just hasn't seemed to put it all together.
So the 4+ ERAs of Kluber, Carrasco and Bauer- along with our record- are acceptable and not disappointing? I somehow missed that.View: https://twitter.com/BtBScore/status/594892441381150722
They've struggled a bit as of late, partly due to Gomes being out, partly due to poor fielding, and partly due to the pressure of having to be perfect with our flaws in the field, at the plate, and in the bullpen, but as a whole they are top five so far in MLB in FIP. Hardly a disappointment.
