This is such a simplistic way of looking at things that just makes 0 sense
They technically traded for Stanton. But it is their unlimited cashflow which allowed them to basically accept a salary dump from the Marlins. So saying they acquired Stanton "through a trade" is technically true but anyone who even has a semblance of understanding of the MLB would know how stupid that statement sounds. Marlins were living well beyond their means and the Yankees with their endless cashflow were there to capitalize.
Not to mention that bullshit they pulled with Chapman to basically lend him to the Cubs before just throwing money at him AND getting the prospects
If you think the Yankees are on a level playing field with their build then holy shit are you naive coach
My point was the Yankees built the 17 team mostly through trades and drafting not through just straight purse power. I feel we need some type of hard cap in baseball (offset by a minimum cap where all teams have the spend this amount and if they don't then the difference goes to the players on the roster evenly) but at the moment they don't and it will help ruin the game long term if they don't find a way to reel in how much teams are spending and spending.
The Indians still need to make a move or two this offseason to get their team right. I expect a RH OF added to the roster and other stuff like that. We have a bit of cash to spend, but not a lot (less than 10 mil probably on a free agent)
