As I wait patiently to Game 3 tonight, I'll kill some time with my first mock of the year.
Hoping to put some guys on Browns fans radar (links included for tape):
1 (1) - Myles Garrett - OLB - Texas A&M - Has a chance to be the best pure pass rushing prospect of the last 25 years. His hands at the point of attack, athleticism off the edge, character and toughness are all at an elite level. He's a day one performer who can be among the best at his position early in his NFL career.
1 (21) - Malik Hooker - FS - Ohio State - There are a number of good S prospects this year (Jamal Adams, Marcus Williams, Eddie Jackson, Budda Baker). Hooker is the best athlete of the bunch, and despite his inexperience shows great instincts and range in the run and passing game.
2 (32) - Zach Cunningham - LB - Vanderbilt - Relentless athlete who finds the ball and makes plays all over the place. He's a leader, a future captain on defense who will patrol the middle.
2 (47 - TEN) - Bucky Hodges - TE - Virginia Tech - Incredible athlete and former QB who VT has used at the Wildcat this year. He's 6'6+ and while not a great blocker, certainly has a good mechanics base to grow into one. For a young, developing QB, he'd be a nice weapon to have.
3 - (65) - Conor McDermott - OT - UCLA - Might be a natural LT, but would be the heir apparent to Joe Thomas as he eases into the NFL at RT. Great feet and shows solid drive and catch in pass protection. Long arms and good size, which seems to be what the new Browns are looking for from a size bucket perspective.
3 (CompA) - Tyrone Crowder - OG - Clemson - This is a massive dude with a nasty streak run blocking. Somewhere in the 330-pound range with good feet that can just move Earth.
4 - Da'Shawn Hand - DL - Alabama - Former number one overall recruit, he's likely to enter the draft a bit earlier than he should. First round talent who hasn't necessarily played like it.
4 (PHI) - Kevin King - CB - Washington - Huge corner (6'3, 210) with long arms and great athleticism for his size. Hips are a little stiff, more of a developmental guy with a huge ceiling than he is a finished product. But he's flashed major potential on a sick UDub defense filled with talent.
4 (CompB) - Elijah Hood - RB - UNC - Runs so hard and always seems to drag people forward for extra yardage. Impressed with his lateral quickness through the hole.
4 (CompC) - Ryan Switzer - WR - UNC - Matchup nightmare. Short area quickness and great burst. He's a guy who will have a few set plays to get the ball in his hands. Elite route running skills, always open. One of my favorite players in this draft.
5 - Fabian Moreau - CB - UCLA - Couldn't find a good video, but he's got really good size and quickness. Offers good depth at CB with a chance to develop into more, much like King.
5 (NE) - Erik Magnuson - OL - Michigan - Multi-year starter and versatile lineman who could play a number of positions. Added depth.
5 (Comp) - Wes Lunt - QB - Illinois - Don't think the QB class is all that special, but you'd like to take a developmental guy with the added picks acquired. Lunt has all the arm strength you'd want, good size and a lot of experience.
6 - Davon Godchaux - DL - LSU - This dude should be so much better than he is. I don't know whether he just doesn't give a shit, or actually sucks, 3-4 plays a game you think you're watching a Top 10 guy. This year he just looks slow and disinterested.
7 - Jamal Marcus - OLB - Akron - Dismissed from OSU for some things, but is a hell of a pass rusher. Hell of an athlete, worth it to bring him in and see what he's got.
