Yes lets finish above Houston! In looking up some tie breaking procedures, I found something interesting that I actually didn't know was a thing.
If 2 teams tie for a division lead at the end of the season, they automatically play a tie-breaker, even if the loser is guaranteed a wild card spot.
So if the Twins take Wild Card #2, and the Yankees and Red Sox tie for the AL East lead (and both have a better record than Minnesota), then they'd play a game to determine the AL East champ. Then, the loser would host Minnesota, and we'd play the winner of that game (assuming we hold on to #1, of course). So we'd either get Minnesota or a team who just had to play 2 extra games.
That's potentially huge.
More money and WS contention .Weird situation where the Indians can offer more money than the Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs, and Dodgers due to CBA restrictions.
Edit: Obviously we basically have no shot still.

Why do we have no shot?
From what I've read money isn't an issue here because of the MLB's rules for an international player under 25
So do you want to play for the team that won 21 in a row with a HOF manager or do you go want to play with the human version of Shrek and no matter how well you play always be criticized in New York?
I have to think we are one of if not the best baseball situations anyone can pick putting money aside
Any idea how a team is going to play him? He looks like a great pitching prospect, but his batting is out of this world.I agree, logically, from a baseball standpoint, we should be right up there in the running.
But, for a 23-year old superstar from Japan, I just don't see a cultural fit compared to places like Seattle and San Fran. He will also be able to step in right away on those staffs. If I had to name the favorites it would be Mariners, Yankees, Giants, in that order.
