2018 Browns Free Agent Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He had a knee scope and he's cleared to play.

So...I guess this was inaccurate?

He might be cleared to play, but you're failing to answer the question. How many complete seasons has he played out of the time he's been in the NFL?

I thought I answered it pretty clearly with an "I don't care."

Unless those injuries linger, and obviously there is no reason to believe they are, then just give him an offensive line and protect your smaller investment in him.

If given the choice of Bradford as a bridge, and pretending Kirk Cousins is worth $30 million, I'll take Bradford and develop his replacement behind him.

This is all moot anyway. No good QB is coming to Cleveland of their own volition.

Can’t be a bridge QB if you can’t stay on the field. Yeah

Eh. I don't even care. Bradford would be fine. Hyde would be fine. None of those guys jeopardize our pursuit of the top pick next year. No on Cousins. I'm not giving him franchise QB money.

I'd rather see us use one of our first two second rounders on a guy like Chubb or Michel.

Wouldn't necessarily be opposed to Hyde, but he doesn't move the needle much either.

Hyde is better than his numbers suggest. His running style is suitable for this O-Line.

I mean, what are the odds one of the RBs taken in the second round would be as effective as Hyde has been? 50-50 at best?

Hyde can be had for a reasonable contract. With the Browns O-Line, and hopefully better QB play, I don't see why Hyde can't rush for 1100 yards and catch around 60 passes. Perhaps the Browns are better off having a near sure thing at RB whilst using those picks on other areas of real concern where FA is thin?

In this draft, I feel like there are a handful of backs who could be as good as better than Hyde as rookies. Aside from Barkley and probably Guice, I feel like most of them could be had at the top of the second.

I don't know. I think if SF had Jimmy G to start the season, thus precluding all this games where SF stopped running the ball because they were down two touchdowns, Hyde would have been a Pro-Bowler this season.

Again, I like Hyde, but I feel like he's kind of just a guy. Is he really that much better than Crowell? I'd rather take a shot on a guy early in the second who could be elite than spending money on a guy we know is good but not great.

Let's look at last year: Latavius Murray wanted a big payday, but he had to wait and wait. Eventually he settled on the Vikings at three years, fifteen million with a ton of achievement clauses. Hyde is also in a situation where it's a buyer's market. Most teams are looking at this draft class and figure they will get their hands on a cheap rookie on day three. Will the Browns benefit from a low price on Hyde or do they roll with a rookie? Both? I'm interested to find out.

Both. Rookies can’t block and with the talent at RB in the draft, you hope that the rookie is better than Hyde by their 2nd year together, and even then that doesn’t mean Hyde sucks.

If he is a high character, better than average guy who will actually consider playing for the Browns, you have to do it.
