2018 Browns Free Agent Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I guarantee if we were about to sign Pryor there would be a completely different tune coming from you guys. Everyone we sign or trade for magically becomes better and everyone we don’t sign isn’t that good.

That's a load of complete crap.

A whole lot of people have been down on Pryor for a long time, including when his name surfaced again this spring. Go ahead -- find someone from the last couple of weeks who was saying how much they wanted him, but only reversed course when this news about the Jets broke. If you're "guaranteeing" that other posters are two-faced, you should be able to show all the contradictory posts easily.

You can't, because it's not true.

Browns fans have been convincing themselves that Pryor is good for a while.

I loved the potential he showed two years ago, but he’s gotten worse and his athleticism will decline as he gets older to take away the one thing he’s good at.

I think Pryor's knowledge of Hue's playbook brought him the trust with the Browns QBs he played with. They knew he was going to make the right reads and be in the right place. He helped make sure everyone was lined up and knew the plays.

He lost that when he went to the Redskins. I don't think he was a long term answer for the Browns even if he came back this year. He was a couple year stop gap till we could have gotten someone better or younger guys developed. Coleman hasn't been able to stay healthy and Gordon is Gordon. We might look fine on paper but to bank on both Coleman and Gordon to play all 16 games is just a bad bet.

I will reserve judgement until we see the number Pryor got paid but I didn't think 5-6 million was too much to pay him to hedge with the question marks we have at receiver.

Pryor is 29. Not sure the juice is worth the squeeze for the Browns.

Allen Hurns, tho...

Hurns is good enough to be Gordan insurance. Pryor is not.

Cant hurt to get guys like Hurns and Gaines if we can pull it off. Having depth is not something this franchise has had since 99. Yes we have been missing blue chip players, but our backups in many years did not belong in the nfl ( last two years was very evident) injuries is apart of the game. You are going to have several starters miss games, and you can’t have several players looking like expansion type talent and expect magic.

Adding Gaines and Hurns could be huge for this team. Being able to draft Chubb at 4 instead of having to fill a need would be outstanding. Chubb, Ogbah, Ogunjobi, Garrett all rushing the QB at the same time. Add to that our much improved secondary and hopefully a healthy season for our LB's and we'll have a top 10 Defense. On offense you're adding a proven QB, hopefully a full season of Gordon, Landry, Hurns, Hyde and a 2nd round back. Potential to be a top offense and defense. Unless Hue finds a way to screw it up we're making the playoffs boys and girls!!

Gordon
Landry
Hurns
Coleman = Best 1-4 WR group in the NFL Plus Hurns would be excellent insurance for Gordon.

Adding Gaines likely would mean that Taylor is out.

Carrie
Gaines
BC
Mitchell
Wilson = Lessens the need of drafting a CB early.

Adding those guys means we would go into the draft with no truly pressing needs, which would give us more flexibility to go BPA for the entire draft, and perhaps even to trade down at 4. Maybe we end up with Chubb, maybe not, but it would be nice to be able to work the draft as a whole to maximize talent rather than being forced to go in a certain direction to fill holes. Ideally, I'd still like to trade down a few slots from 4 if we added other valuable picks, and could then take out pick out of whichever of Chubb, Nelson, Ward, and Fitzpatrick remains, because all of those guys would really add value. One it goes below 8 (or 7 depending on Allen, a trade down gets a bit more dicey.

Browns gonna Brown

Pass-rush depth, likely on the cheap. Oh Browns.
