2018 NFL Draft - Day 2 Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I agree with many about Guice.

What about Hughes the CB? Many had him as a first round talent, but somewhat raw. Would (hopefully) solve our CB holes for years.
Hughes is a Viking.

Not sure why there is such interest in Guice for this team.

Good player, but locking up Duke Johnson should be a larger concern. Carlos Hyde is an elite downhill runner, and I fell like there is much more value later on in guys like Kerryon Johnson or Royce Freeman.

Not sure what Landry's medicals look like, but that's a tough pick to pass on given his bend and ability to get to the QB. He would be a freaking nightmare coming off the weak side.

Obviously y'all know my thoughts on Mo Hurst. He's DT1 and the third best defensive player in the draft for me.

No interest in Josh Jackson, he's likely falling because he's somewhat limited to a Cover 3 scheme. Not really a fit for the current staff. I think he'll be a really good player for a team who plays a ton of zone, really good instincts and pass-off skills.

Who do you want at 33 and 35 and who would you be unhappy with at those picks?

The trickiest part of the choices coming up will be the things fans don't fully know. Guice and Landry are the best on the field, but I don't have access to the factors that caused the slide.

On the field, I preferred Guice to Michel and Penny. I do wonder how he will handle being in a running back by committee situation if he has this temper red flag. Fans who remember William Green know that the ref flags seem obvious in retrospect, no matter what the player does on the field.

With Landry, and to some extent Hurst, a player heading for early retirement doesn't help much either. I love what I see when they play, but I trust the Browns have the right people and right information to find out which red flags are serious and which are not.

Has anyone discussed Connor Williams?

And that's really the kicker for all of this, isn't it?

I'm not a guru and don't even play one on the internet.

That being said, positionally, I'd like to see us grab (in no particular order) 1) an interior DL who can penetrate 2) an RB (because the two we have won't be healthy for the entire season anyway) and a good LT candidate/project. Who that would be, and whether or not they will be BPA when we pick, I have no idea.

how would you rank the WR’s left standing as fits for this roster?

I’d like a broad range of views on this.

In terms of pure talent, I don't think there is any question it's Courtland Sutton at the top.

But the Browns don't necessarily need an X receiver in the bigger body. They need functional players who can produce from anywhere, which will allow Landry to continue moving around as well.

I like Anthony Miller most of those remaining on the board, he's probably the only pick I'd be truly excited about in Round 2. Kirk is a guy I liked alot, but really was disappointing athletically.

If they want to replace Gordon eventually, I think Courtland Sutton has to be in consideration.

Lots of value in the middle and later rounds as well.

Has anyone discussed Connor Williams?

Briefly.

Someone mentioned he’s a guard, which I don’t get. He’s a tackle.

Williams/Hurst is my dream scenario, but they may have flagged Hurst.

I am not of the opinion that WR is a huge *need* right now, but I understand that Coleman and Gordon are both unreliable for different reasons.

Looking at skill sets, Sutton is the best guy available, but it's hard to say what Dorsey's plans are without knowing what the future holds for Gordon and Coleman.

No thoughts on James Washington?

I feel like the addition of a vertical deep threat could be something we look at opposite Gordon.

But I agree, I can’t see how Sutton fits opposite Gordon. It just seems... off. Unless they plan on replacing him.

I love Kirk as well, but Landry kind of fills that mold of a possession guy. I wouldn’t be mad if we still took him.

Guys I really like:

Harold Landry and Mo Hurst (medicals depending, nobody knows where these guys stand)

Tyrell Crosby at OT is a guy who I think can play LT in this league, and would AT WORST be a really great RT or G.

Brian O'Neill or Jamarco Jones may be a reach, but O'Neill's got high potential as a future LT. Jones is incredibly technically sound and could be impactful early.

Sam Hubbard and Josh Sweat (medicals) are good players.

Three guys from Stanford are favorites of mine; Harrison Phillips (DT), Quenton Meeks (CB) and Justin Reid (CB). Not sure if they will fill needs at this point, but they're all really good players who I think will be very productive.

James Daniels at C is the last of the three prospects there who I think are Pro-Bowl caliber.

Guys I don't really want here:

Any RB

WR: James Washington, Dante Pettis

OT: Geron Christian, Orlando Brown, Joe Noteboom

DE: Rasheem Green, Kemoko Turay

CB: Josh Jackson, Donte Jackson,

I'm not wild about a possible one-dimensional guy this high.

I'd like him more toward the back of 2 or into 3.

There are too many more well-rounded players out there right now.
