Anyone know how many Maddox has in his career?
Is Maddox the best pitcher of the last 30 years?
This is just me personally, from who I've seen. It'd be a toss up between Maddox and Pedro Martinez. Pedro doesn't have the longevity but he was pretty damn dominate at his peak much like Maddox.
Guys like Randy Johnson, Clemens, and Ryan were always dominant throwers, and racked up the strikeouts, but you could get to those guys too. Probably more entertaining to watch for many, but throwing the ball so hard has its pros and cons. Not that they weren't great, just they weren't artists on the mound like a Maddox or Pedro. These guys could literally play musical chairs with batters at their peak.
Maddox probably gets the edge for most. Especially in the mid 90s where he was legendary great. I mean, guys just didn't hit off him!
It was just really, really BAD luck the '95 Indians, honestly an all-time great time EVER. That probably wins it all any other year it plays, happens to go against Maddox at his better ever, against Glavine and Smoltz at their prime.
That's just bad luck. Any other season, we win it all. Fuckin' Maddox lost just two games that season.
Gave up just 8 homer runs, and walked just 23. For an entire season!
Fuck, Salazar can do that all in a game.
Guys were batting .197 against him. That's just crazy givens the few walks too. A guy like that is virtually unhittable.
