Bump so we can talk in the thread of the current season.

Ok we're two months in.

Still taking the Clippers out od the West. The East I'm down to Milwaukee and Philly. Though I still wanna see what Oladipo looks like.

Boston and Toronto, while good, cant hang with those two.

Super dark horse team, Dallas. I think they could make a move if they wanted to this year.

Miami could as well. Not sure either will push their chips in thisbyear though.

Dallas is not a dark horse. They are an actual good team. If they make a move they could be favorites but IDK what assets they have to bring to the table. In addition I think they improve as the season goes along.

Miami is on the edge of a competitor. They need to make a move if they are going to win, but again with the assets.

Milwaukee actually has assets to move. Until recently I was thinking they might sit tight since they will clobber boston in a seven game series.. But Now that Philly is actually beginning to play as advertised, the bucks have to be concerned. Not sure what we have that actually makes them better though. Obviously Love, but I dont think they have THOSE assets.

Ideally we would trade into the west, but there is not a lot on the table from LA, LA, Denver, so maybe Utah, maybe Portlandia.

They could use a good wing defender who could knock down some threes. That being said I think Dallas has room to improve even without making any moves. And that's mainly because of Porzingis. It takes time to get back to the level he was at before the injury. This years Porzingis is basically the 2018-19 Gordon Hayward. A player that's still "rehabbing" as the season goes on and looks like 75% of his previous level.

When Doncic gets THIS sidekick as the #2 option, watch out:

Dallas is definitely a dark horse to win a title. Absolutely shouldnt be consideres ready to compete with the Lakers or Clippers

Meh, only because we're in the load management era. 25 years ago people wouldn't have bat at eye at it. They definitely wouldn't have bat an eye at a 26 year old superstar playing 34 mpg. That would've been considered low. They're piling up wins right now so they can rest guys later in January/February. They only have to go 35-24 the rest of the season to get to 55 wins, which no one was projecting for them at the start of the year.

Not only that but the AD only played 56 games last year and only 33 minutes. Which was due to the team reducing his minutes and sitting him for games after requesting a trade.

I think folks have to look at the lakers from a historical stand point. Every decade they have made the finals since the 50s. It is no surprise that they are this good after being so bad the last 6 years. Also the team is actually deep with veterans. Vogal and the coaching staff often times will go 10 or 11 players deep during a game. Thats one of the biggest reasons Lebrons minutes are so low.

Pretty impressive for the Mavs to take Miami to OT in Miami playing WITHOUT Luka. Not a one man team there.

If the refs don’t give Miami like twice as many FTs as Dallas the Mavs take that game

That Luka injury looked really nasty. That would have really sucked if he would have broke his ankle. He is the best thing the Nba has going right now.

Apparently Porzingis had suffered the same exact injury and only missed 2 games. So who knows...

They said he was on an exercise bike at halftime. Luka is a tough kid. I doubt he misses too many games.

Toughness has nothing to do with it, at least in the regular season. It’s all about how objectively bad your injury is according to the medical staff. Think Dallas wants to take any chances at all with Luka’s health so he can be “tough”?

Milwaukee has a stretch coming up with games against the Lakers and Philly. If they win out over that stretch their schedule turns soft for quite a while and they have a real shot at the Lakers 33 game win streak record if they want to try for it...

Calm down. I just meant he is a guy that would try to play sooner than alot of other guys. Of course its not completely up to him and they will be careful with him. Thanks for breaking down the situation though and setting me straight.

Impossible to tell with an injury like that. Seen guys shake that off, and others have been sidelined for weeks.
