2019 Draft, Pick #30 - Kevin Porter Jr., USC

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yes, let's cut a guy for bumping an official.

While we're at it, let's replace everyone on the team and in the entire Cavs organization with members of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. We only want people of the highest possible moral and ethical character to represent the city.

The team also should be calling a timeout any time they commit a foul so that they can properly and genuinely apologize to our opponents for such careless and reckless behavior. Anything less than that is just rude and disrespectful.

The organization also should offer the pay the cleaning bills for any member of an opposing team that one of our players accidentally sweats on during the game.

They also ought to be paying the travel expenses of all the teams that have to come to Cleveland to play. I mean, it's truly the polite thing to do.

Sure let’s just promote thug like behavior against a ref for a guy who’s been in the league for 2 months. No red flags there at all- he was a model citizen before the draft... oh yeah wait....

I watched the replay of the bump about 5 times. To me it looked accidental, Inadvertent, but careless at the very least. It looked like he was just cutting the corner a bit tight as he jogged past, and he wasn't even looking at where he was running.

No way this was blatant or egregious.

I didn’t see the bump. If it was accidental, he just needs to be careful.

Was Porter smart for "accidentally on purpose" brushing the ref as he ran by? Of course not.

All those on this board who had it all figured out by age 19, and never had a moment of visible frustration or bad behavior, raise their hands. (I sure as hell didn't.) Seems more like a moment of immature frustration on his part, nothing more.

Apologize for it, learn from it, don't do it again, and move on.

Looked intentional to me, but I don't see any reason for this to be discussed beyond his 1 game suspension

Holy fuck. Thuglike behavior???
GTFOH with your stupidity.

Thug like behavior? Jesus dude, chill.

what else do you call it? A fit? He’s a professional player who bumped an official. If intentional, what else do you call it? Intimidation? Retribution? If intentional It sure as hell isn't a mistake.
It’s thug like behavior- plain and simple.

the tolerance for this behavior is astounding. Wow
Porter barely brushed the red as he jogged by. "This behavior?". The league has zero tolerance for ANY player/ref contact and the kid just got a game suspension without pay. What do you think should happen? To call it thug like smacks of someone with an axe to grind and even borders on the R word.

At the very worst it was a careless moment by Porter. Hardly intentional, more sloppy than anything. I've been bumped harder standing in line at the grocery store.

In your mind. Any player who touches a ref is completely outside a game and is in a different category of person.
An intentional bumping of a a ref is not a mistake. Your oversimplification that excuses him and somehow removes intentional behavior from being called thug like because he is an African American is weak. BTW- thug like isn’t applicable to only African Americans, it’s applicable to certain behavior. Your lazy interpretation is your problem, not mine.

You didn't see the clip. Watch it carefully before you comment.

Here’s my initial quote. Take it as you may.
“WTF? He bumped an official? I’m almost for cutting his ass if this is accurate. (I didn’t see it).”
