2019 NFL Regular Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
When the pressure is on, Jimmy G has folded badly. Clearly the weakness of the 49ers.

I sound like a broken record but if he were on a team like the Vikings? I'd be pulling for him.

I think that's actually what makes the whole thing insufferable. People are trotting out takes about how "HE SHOULD HAVE GONE BEFORE MAYFIELD" and "I CAN'T BELIEVE 31 TEAMS PASSED ON HIM".

The latter is hilarious because...Baltimore indeed passed him the first time
It's just some random person's opinion over the internet. We're in a hot take culture now.

FWIW Lamar is a fun player to watch and I hope he develops as a passer. In a redraft, he's definitely in the top ten. You can't teach his elite speed and vision as a runner. Baltimore does a really good job putting him in favorable situations as a runner and passer too.

It's just strange how divisive of a player he can be. The Browns have whooped Baltimore twice and played them close at the end of last season. LJ is just a developmental quarterback on the team that gets continually beat by us. :conf (11):

Lamar appears to have the instinct of self-preservation. Huge, if true.

In a redraft I can see the Bills or Broncos taking him.

It's also rather early.

Trey Wingo sounded like he was having an orgasm over him on NFL Primetime. Pretty much comparing him to a "MADDEN" game and then saying "DEFENSIVE COORDINATORS....JUST TRY TO STOP THIS"

He's playing the fucking Bengals. Who are these guys in this clip:

"SEE ONLY THESE QB'S HAVE TWO PERFECT GAMES DURING A SEASON..."

Same dude was shitting on the Browns at the drop of a hat btw. I suspect he has maryland relatives or something.

Kinda starting to believe the 9ers might be the team to beat now in the NFC.

They did everything to lose that game and still had a FG to win it in the end.

Jimmy didn't play great but his WRs played worse and hey, they were missing their two best, so that's ok.

To be fair Seattle also did a lot to lose that game.

that was a great game, but it was also an extremely odd game.

The 49ers have a superb team outside of QB. I get that Jimmy’s stats are stellar, but I just don’t think a team who’s biggest weakness is probably QB (although he’s no San Darnold) can be considered the favorites.

Lamar Jackson is electric and in the offense the Ravens run, he is awesome. But that offense will eventually get him hurt. You can't ask a QB to run the ball that much and expect him to remain healthy. You can't expect *any* player to run that much an expect them to remain healthy.

I feel like everyone is going to be saying this and we look back and he's been in the league injury-free for 10 years.

I mean it would be literally the first time that has ever happened

like I’ve said before I’m not betting on anomalies. If he proves to be one so be it but the odds your statement holds up in my proprietary probability model are pretty damn close to 0

Oh I agree. It's just every time he has a good game it's "Well he's gonna get injured sometime." and here we are 16 starts into his career.

Yeah I’m definitely not holding my breath on a short time injury and honestly? How it looks now I wouldn’t be shocked if they get a deep playoff run or a few in the short term which makes me sick.

I don’t think it’s sustainable for 10+ years, but over the next few seasons? I think it’s absolutely sustainable and the Ravens could make some deep playoff runs because he’s incredibly hard to stop.

I will say though I think Mahommes is substantially more dangerous and it’d be hard for me to ever pick the Ravens over the Chiefs as long as Mahommes is Mahommes. But the Chiefs defense is balls. But Mahommes is such a remarkable talent he can make Lamar play from behind. Which is where the Ravens have consistently struggled. I know it seems like an eternity ago but we handled the Ravens and it was because Lamar had to play from a large deficit and just couldn’t move the offense fast enough when it had to become more 1 dimensional

Jimmy G is average. Considering the rest of the team, you can win a title with average.

They remind me a ton of the Flacco Ravens.

Throw to the Tight End. Run run run. Stellar defensive line.
