2019 Series #36 | Indians vs. Angels | August 2nd, 3rd, and 4th

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So Mike Trout is 5th behind among others Mike Trout?

Honestly I would remove Trout from the equation and say he is in 4th, lol.

Pick one, Seattle Griffey or current Trout?

Seattle Griffey (not counting the last two seasons of his career when he went back): .948 OPS, 149 OPS+, 70.7 WAR (6.4 per year)
Angels Trout (entire career): .999 OPS, 176 OPS+, 71.1 WAR (7.9 per year)

Sign me up for Trout in a heartbeat, and I love Griffey.

I kinda like all these live interviews during the game. Adds a nice twist to the broadcast.

Mike Trout is on pace to lead the league in OPS+ for the 6th time in his eight full seasons in baseball this season.

Only 11 other players in MLB history have led the league in OPS+ 6 or more times:

- Ty Cobb (12)
- Babe Ruth (12)
- Rogers Hornsby (12)
- Barry Bonds (9)
- Ted Williams (9)
- Dan Brouthers (8)
- Mickey Mantle (8)
- Willie Mays (6)
- Stan Musial (6)
- Mike Schmidt (6)
- Honus Wagner (6)

Mike Trout can make it into that company this year, and he's not even 28 years old yet.
No disrespect to the other guys, but standing out above this modern pack like he has done is arguably a more impressive feat in modern MLB than what the legends did.

Friendly reminder we traded Vinnie Pestano to the Angels for Mike Clevinger.

Pestano pitched in 31 games total for the Angels, had a 1.50 WHIP, and was never heard from again afterwards.

Meanwhile, we've got a borderline ace. Indians are very good at fleecing other teams out of key assets without giving up much.

So if we had a mortal playing instead of Trout, Clevinger has a no hitter through 6.

Been a very well run organization for a long time. They don't get them all right but they're right much more often than not. Have gotten better at the draft thing, too.

He seems like a nice guy, but good lord Bob DiBasio bores the absolute hell out of me.

Cousin Vinnie is now in the real estate business

Probably speaks to how the org is able to see things others aren’t. LA probably thought they were coming out on top of that deal because it failed to understand what it had in clev. This is the ultimate retrospect but still, that’s crazy.
