I feel like Westbrook would be viewed as a top 10-15 player all time if they never instituted the 3P line.

OKC is a disgrace.

Well I take back BKN waltzing to the Finals.

Big problems.

I want to preface this by saying the Pistons' FO deserves credit for signing Grant and drafting Stewart and Bey. All shrewd moves.

But I'm watching this Nets-Pelicans game, and Bruce Brown is a very solid player and only 24 years old. I can't understand why they would just give him away?

Since there’s a lot of talk in other areas of the board about Allen’s situation, we need to note how they acquired Bey in the first place.

Pistons traded Luke Kennard to the Clippers in a three team trade with Brooklyn. Kennard was due an extension and the Pistons didn’t want to pay him. In return they got Bey and also maintained their cap room which let them acquire Grant.

Wouldn’t be shocked to see the Cavs take a similar approach with Allen if the opportunity presented itself.

I am impressed on how RJ Barrett has played especially on his shooting. 3 point is now over 38 percent and FTs over 70 percent when he wasn’t shooting well in college in both departments.

Now Woj/ESPN are talking up Zion to NY even though he's just finishing his 2nd season. As a fan of a mid market team it's always discouraging to hear this stuff. Zion has a $90 mil shoe contract in hand so it wouldn't surprise if he goes down that QO path to get out of New Orleans if they don't fix their problems in a hurry. The NBA and media obviously want Zion in the playoffs. Even if he were to get injured some teams would still give him a max deal so it's not like he'd be losing a ton of money like others have done in the past (ie Nerlens Noel).

Cavs might be on the right path trying to build around character guys that are more concerned about basketball than image/brand. It's just threading a needle as in most cases you need that superstar to win in the NBA. The mid 2000's Pistons were probably the last team to win a ring without a transcendent player on the roster but the pieces on that team all fit perfectly.

I've noticed so many NBA players really don't give a shit about efficiency.

They idolize Kobe and Carmelo b/c for w/e reason making tough shots, even if inefficiently, is the most important skill.

Not being able to create easy shots.

In his prime, Melo was (IMO) just a slightly-overrated All-Star. I didn't have any big issue with him, even if his shot selection wasn't always the best. I wish he would retire so that I could remember him for his Denver/NYK days when he was actually good.

But he won't, even though it's been 4 years since he last played above-replacement-level basketball. Has any other star persistently avoided retirement for so long after he stopped being a useful player?

Only other guy I can think of is maybe GP? Although he eventually figured it out with Miami.

I just don't see how Melo can adjust his game to be useful now. He never was a good enough spot up shooter to take the old man Vince roll and unlike an old Grant Hill or Malone he won't be a plus defender.
