2020-2021 Cavs Season General Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Eight teams in the East are over .500; only three in the West. The West has seven teams that are 4-4.

According to the NBA's Simple Rating System, which takes into account won-loss record, point differential, and strength of schedule the Bucks are the NBA's best team. Their record is 5-4. They are the league's highest scoring team at 125.3. It will be interesting to see how many they score on the Cavs.

Does anyone know if we are gonna sign a guard to a 10 day contract to cover the injuries?
Mudiay?
We need a point guard while all of Garland, Exum and Delly are out

I’m gonna go out in a limb and say dunks and threes.

Milwaukee average 124.8 ppg on offense that's first in the league. Milwaukee is first in offensive efficiency.

Cleveland averaging 103.3 ppg on defense that's second in the league.Cleveland is first in defensive efficiency.

If,the Cavs manage to keep the Bucks under their scoring average;I'll consider it a huge win.

Darius can't play either?? Uh oh. Delly? Jesus. Not only I juries but long ones.

I figured Collin could play since be was just questionable last game.

The Garland injury is worrying.

He needs as many games as he can get. Not good.

Need an update on delly otherwise the man should hang it up.
Cmon cavs stop being so secretive.
How long will he be out for?

They won't push it if they don't expect to win.

We really need to get some guys back soon to share the load. We have leaned pretty hard on the guys who have been healthy and, other than Drummond, these are not guys used to tons of minutes. There is a long season still ahead and the compressed schedule is going to be a slog.

Funny stuff from Fedor...

Saturday’s supersized lineup featured Nance as, well, the 2-guard. Drummond viewed himself as the 3. Maker the 4. McGee the 5.

It’s the second consecutive game that Nance, a 6-foot-7 power forward who played center earlier in his career, logged minutes in the backcourt.

“I’ve had five, the center position. I knew I had the power forward obviously. I’ve got the small forward -- had that last year. I may have added shooting guard as well,” Nance said the other night. “You can officially put Larry Nance two through five. When people draft me (in) fantasy, you can use me for two through five, whatever. They better update. But it was funny. I love it.

Great. Now Drummond thinks he's a 3 and Nance thinks he's a 2. How is JBB going to get these guys to go back to playing the 4 and 5 after they've gotten a taste of playing on the wing?

“That’s the way it’s gonna be for a long time,” Drummond said. “We’re gonna have to make games ugly, make it messy, make it a very dirty game because we have a lot of big men that are able to do a lot of things. We’re just going to play to the best of our ability and put our team in a good situation.”

Okoro is back and Sexton could be back tomorrow and Garland is supposed out for about a week, so he could be back in a few days. I don't know about messing up the game "for a long time". But it was interesting to see Drum, McGee, Maker, and Nance on the floor at the same time. Land of the Giants. It worked pretty well, too, with Dotson as the only guard, but it would work even better with Sexton.

Or how about Drummond, McGee, Nance, Okoro, and Sexton? Nobody scores in the paint or gets an offensive rebound.

JBB wants Nance to be our version of Draymond Green according to Fedor. Be involved at both ends of the floor. It took a few games but it's starting to happen.

In the first five games without Love, it wasn’t easy. Nance averaged 8.4 points on 17-of-43 (39.5%) shooting and 4-of-20 (20%) from 3-point range. Even though Bickerstaff disagrees, there was a noticeable tentativeness to Nance’s game. He was overthinking, caught in between facilitating and finishing.

“I just needed a bit of time to adjust to the new role,” Nance told cleveland.com. “Nothing I can’t handle, just an adjustment period.”

The last two games Nance is 13-for-20 from the field and 7-for-10 on 3's, along with six assists and seven steals. He's scored 17 and 18 points in addition to being the NBA's highest rated defender in Defensive Points Saved. If there's anything good about Love's injury (and all the guard injuries) it's giving Nance an extended period of time to expand his offensive game and gain confidence in his ability to score and facilitate.

A player who ranks in the top three defensively and can average 15 ppg on minimal shot attempts is an extremely valuable guy. Once Garland, Sexton, Love, and Porter get back I don't see Nance getting 15 ppg, however, but I think he'll be an improved offensive player from this experience.
