Would you be upset then if a coach came out and apologized publicly if one of your teammates did it, after ripping him a new one?
I'm not sure what you're asking here. I think I've made my thoughts clear though.

Any time you can hit a home run in baseball, you should.

I disagree. Not when the game is by all means out of hand, with a 3-0 count, and the bases loaded.

Obviously, there is a 1 in a 100 type chance where the opposing team completes a miraculous come back and then everyone says "see you should have kept tacking on".

*ahem* seems accurate, no?

Keep upholding the integrity of the game.

(PS - this game was in the 8th)

Are you suggesting that hitting a grand slam is morally or ethically wrong?

Yeah I can't believe this Tatis thing is even a story. What he supposed to do, get out on purpose?

This is not basketball where you can just run out the clock. And a lot of times in late innings of blowout games you got unproven guys at the plate, trying to keep a job. You want them to take a pitch that they could have hit out of the park too? You want one of our guys who can't do shit right now to take that pitch when you know once swing can get him going? (I know it takes more than one swing, but it's a confidence thing.)

Now if Tatis was showboating after the HR, I'd have a problem with that. But once you step in between the lines you go 100% at all times.

Maybe not the best word - but I think we all understand what we're debating. The "unwritten rules" of the game. Respecting the game, upholding the standards, etc etc ad nauseam.

Yeah, I don't care.

Play to win. They all get paid. And sometimes, people take shit for money.

Last night, Rangers had to eat their shit sandwich with sriracha on it. No need to cry about them piling it on.

So you're not going to cry when Tatis gets bean'd next time?

Or, are we playing double standards here? Is that not "playing to win" enough for you? Lol

How is hitting a guy with a 90 mph baseball and putting him on base "playing to win"?

Again, that's all about hurt feelings and being a bitch, quite frankly.

No, it's about upholding standards and traditions of the game. But hey, not everyone sees it that way (I'm not advocating that to happen in this instance by the way).

Rest assured, Tatis wouldn't have apologized if he didn't feel it was prudent.

And the bold is why baseball is boring.

I'm out.
