So you're trading for Williams and playing Ezra at RG?
There's no way I'm trading for Trent Williams if I'm also signing him to a massive contract.

But, put me on a team that already traded for Trent? Tell me who's on the board at 10, tell me where the second tier of tackle starts to get picked, and tell me what the cost is to move up from 41 and I'll tell you what I'd do.

For example, if Wills, Thomas or Becton is there at 10, I'm taking them and not even thinking about trading for Trent Williams.

If any of those top 8 tackles is there at 41, I'm taking him without a second thought and not trading for Trent Williams.

Give me Trent Williams, and tell me I used pick 10 on Isaiah Simmons, and it starts to get interesting.

What if you could trade for Williams on the cheap, and then draft Wirfs or Thomas at 10 to play RG for a year or two until Williams is gone then slide out?

Why would I trade for Williams in that scenario?

From what I understand, there isn't a scenario where trading for him is "cheap." You're signing a guy who hasn't played 16 games since 2013, hasn't played any meaningful football since 2018, and is on the wrong side of 30 to a huge contract like he'd get in free agency. I just don't see the value.

But, for shits and giggles, if you say Trent only costs me a fourth rounder in 2021, and we don't have to sign him to a new deal, and he's happy with that, then yes I'd trade for him and still likely draft an offensive lineman somewhere in this draft.

You give me that above "Cheap" Trent, and tell me who's on the board at 10 and I'll tell you what I'd do.

If Burrow/Tua/Young/Okudah/Simmons are gone and one of Thomas/Wills/Becton is on the board, I'm probably taking the tackle and plugging him in at guard this year. Put Simmons on the board, and I draft him, then still look to draft Ezra Cleveland or Josh Jones with 41 (even willing to move up to make it happen).

Someone had thrown out a conditional 2021 2nd to 4th rounder (depending on games played) and a 1 year extension. In that case I trade for him 10 times out of 10. Then draft our LT (assuming he's there at 10) and roll out Williams/Bitonio/Tretter/#10/ Conklin and have a top 5 offensive line (assuming health). Then in 2 seasons when Williams is gone kick #10 out to LT to their natural position.

I think trading up is just going to be too expensive, if your assumption is NYG is taking an OT at #4.

That means you need to get to #3, most likely. 900 point difference would ballpark be next years #1 or this years #2 and likely next years #2.

I honestly don't think any of these tackles are worth that price but maybe I am in the minority.

It becomes more palatable if NYG doesn't take the preferred tackle....because then you are only talking about moving up 3-4 slots, which is far cheaper. Something like a future 2 or a 3 & 4.....just rough estimate.

You are not in the minority. I do not want to trade up that far by any means.

We'd have to trade with maybe the Chargers and that would even be giving up too much, most likely.

"Their OT" may not be the Big 4 of Wirfs, Thomas, Becton, Wills. I think a trade up is much more likely from 41 to the end of the first to grab Ezra Cleveland.
