2020 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The reporter for that article follows Lombardi's claim in the next line saying they confirmed he sustained one wrist injury. Also, I don't think it's a coincidence that reports come out of Miami about Tua's injuries the same week the Lions and Redskins are reported to be shopping their picks. They have all the interest to push that narrative in hopes he falls and they can replace Fitz.

His injuries are undeniable, not going to argue that, but I'm not convinced it will make that much of an impact on his draft position. We've seen QB's with no injury history in college end up injury-plagued in the NFL (Luck, Stafford, Big Ben), guys with concerning injury history getting drafted high (Bradford, RGIII), and guys suffering bad injuries recovering fine (Brees, Bridgewater, Watson). It's kind of a crap shoot. I think GM's (and owners) will shoot their shot grabbing a franchise-QB and hope NFL medical staff can keep their guy healthy.

Normally, I think you'd be right. I just wonder if NFL teams are going to be more gun-shy given that these guys aren't being put through the usual medical exams.

If the big four are gone, you trade down because a WR is there.

I’d target Oakland at 19, mainly because I think getting them two top 12 picks would probably result in high future compensation.

Can't see this front office and coach valuing WR in the top 10. If they couldn't trade down and the tackles are gone I think they would take a defensive lineman or just take Jones at 10.

For perspective here, four tackles have never gone in the top ten before. I fully expect the Browns not to overthink it and take the fourth tackle at #10 rather than getting cute with a trade down. The Jets and Bucs are sitting right behind them ready to pounce on an offensive tackle. A trade out of the top 14 could mean bending to the Redskin's outlandish asking price for Trent Williams.

Becton over Thomas is not what I would do, but I could see the rationale about gambling on the guy with the guy with the highest upside.

That said...

The interesting part to me is Miller suggesting that the Browns could go WR or LB at 10 as well.

If Simmons is off the board, who exactly would they be considering at 10? I guess Queen? Awfully rich for a guy like Queen or Murray that early.

DePo would probably resign.

Not sure why he'd resign. There aren't going to be any decisions made he's not fully on board with at this point :chuckle:

True enough. It was my not-so-clever way of saying I don't think there is any way DePo would agree with taking a WR or LB not named Simmons at 10.

I could see a WR, although I think if they want Lamb they could probably trade down a bit and still get him. He's the best WR on the board, though, even if he probably will be the third one drafted.

I would be very, very disappointed with Becton. Dude seems like a total bust. Here’s to Dave Gettleman falling in love with him.

I disagree and believe he would be a top five pick in any other draft... his status as the fourth tackle in this draft is a testimonial to the quality of Wirfs, Thomas, and Wills.

Though I don't think it's likely, WR wouldn't necessarily surprise me. I think it's highly likely one out of OBJ and Jarvis aren't on the team this time next year. Their combined cap hit for 2021 is almost $30 mill. It's way too much money to have invested in two guys at the WR position. Add in Hooper at $9.3 mill and you have nearly $40 mill in three pass catchers.

It also wouldn't shock me to see us draft a WR at 10 and then trade OBJ to Washington for Williams and a pick / player. I think that's pretty unlikely as well, but it's about the only two scenarios where I see us drafting a WR at 10.

Maybe just me but I don't think they need two stud WRs to make Stefanski's offense humm. And I guess I'm projecting a bit because I'm not a fan of using top 10 picks on WRs.

I am warming up to the early WR. Or more generally the notion of drafting high where you are strong when strong = expensive.
Hopefully Higgins comes back and we can sort of punt that issue until next year.

it’s just so hard to say goodbye to Juice Bc he is such a locker room asset and very skilled, and OBJ is at least in the conversation for top 5 in the NFL.

WR is deep this year, but what we really need are a thumper safety who can shift in the box and probably most of all a free safety, assuming we go OT in R1.
