Just as perspective, the best way to bring guys back from stress fractures, when they have a history of them, is to slowly bring them along.

I just hope they have really worked on his weight training to take strain of his bones.

Judging by the photos of him this preseason he has gained some muscle.

Windler will be fine as long as he doesn't fall down, run too much on hard surfaces, bump into other people, touch any bouncing objects, sit on a chair, etc.

The pairing was awful because Garland passed up open looks all the time and never drew any defenders off Sexton while nobody else stretched the floor with any reliable jumper consistently smh. they pound it inside because they have no choice and it doesn't equal wins because the supporting cast sucked and or was hurt. Garland could have taken twice as many shots as he did with so much defensive congestion away from him.
This season will not be the same animal at all. Unless of course Garland continues to be passive and Sexton doesn't get any spacing help from LM Okoro WIndler Garland and Love

Also, that's not why the pairing was awful. Sexton passing the ball to Garland for an open 3, and Garland passing up the shot, isn't thing that happened repeatedly last season. I'd be curious if there's tape showing it even happened once.

For real garland is open a lot and passes a lot of shots. And when he misses a few he gets down easily. Hopefully this year he just lets them fly it will open the court up a lot for everybody else.

That's unfair. He isn't going to get hurt sitting in a chair. He did a lot of that the last two seasons and it was never a problem.

That only works if Okoro is out there. Because even with both Allen and Mobley, a defense with Lauri, Sexton, and Garland would be pretty bad.

If that is the case then the best thing the Cavs can do is put him at the 2 right now (they did in summer league) and let him focus 100% on development at that position.

Need a better, more reliable option at small forward? Why? Are we not still rebuilding? Shouldn't we put every player in his best position and run with it? Why would a rebuilding team play talented young players out of position? So we can win 32 games instead of 28?

If they wisely decide to play the long game and put Okoro at the 2, I have to think the best backcourt combinations would be Rubio-Sexton and Garland-Okoro. Rubio is more of a passer and not much of a scorer while Sexton is a pure scorer. Conversely, Garland is a PG who can score while Okoro is more of a defender.

At the small forward position I don't see anything wrong with some combination of Markky, Cedi, and Windler. Is Okoro really better than all of them, and if he is, is he SO much better that it justifies losing development time by playing him at a position he won't be playing when the team is ready for a playoff run?

I think the front office and coaching staff aren't willing to take on that poor play that comes with developing players at positions which they will have to work on their weaknesses. I think they rather take some short term better play and wait for injuries to allow those players to slot into their ultimate positions than to just do it right alway. I think it's prolonging the rebuild but could be saving their jobs at the same time.

I also think Koby hasn't been able to acquire the proper players to balance good enough play and the development of players.

Sacramento could have had ANYONE in the 2018 draft over Bagley besides Ayton
