History is not going to be kind to those that try to downplay the level of player to which Curry has ascended.

If some of the legends from the past grew up in this era, with modern resources, obviously they would be great, they’re extremely talented.

However, if Pete and Zeke arrived in a time machine from their primes, they would not even be all-stars. Too much advancement in skill, athleticism, and scheme since their playing days.

why can't we sign a defensive wing guy like Stanley Johnson who is a legit 6'7 and still only 25 years old?

After three days to re-boot and getting Allen and Markkanen back (although they will probably need a few games to get fully up to speed) the Cavs face another brutal gauntlet. Eight of their next nine games are against the best teams in the NBA.

Brooklyn 12-5 (H)
Phoenix 12-3 (H)
Orlando 4-13 (H)
Dallas 9-6 (A)
Miami 11-6 (A)
Washington 11-5 (A)
Utah 11-5 (H)
Milwaukee 9-8 (A)
Chicago 11-5 (H)

After that stretch they will have played 26 games, only five of which will have been against teams with losing records as of today.

That being said, there are only 11 of 30 teams with losing records and six of them are in the West. 14 of 30 teams are within two games of .500. Still, the Cavs have 12 games left against the six worst teams in the West. Tankathon has the Cavs with the 25th toughest schedule the rest of the way. After these next nine games it will probalby be the easiest.

Not ideal... it can take a while to recover fully from the flu, just like covid. Similar risk of heart complications too if you're not careful.

Not ideal, but Covid is like the flu times 20 or so.....and it can take a couple weeks for him to get back to normal, very true

Zeke wouldn’t be an all star???? Wow!!! And if players in this generation went through a time machine back to Zeke’s days they wouldn’t find such easy paths to the basket or the free wheeling they enjoy now!

If you had a time machine and put Steph in the late 80’s, they’d put him on trial for witchcraft

I agree with you that Curry's skills are off the charts, but physical defenders always have given him the most trouble. Delly couldn't come close to matching his foot speed, but the bumping, bodying up, grabbing, etc, always seemed to throw Curry off of his game more so than did more agile or athletic defenders.

So if you were to insert Curry into an era where much more physical defense was tolerated, I think he'd see less success than he does today. He's still being an outstanding player, but I do think it would hamper him.

Players shot way more FT back in that era, and it was easier to score in general. Just because there were more dirty plays doesn’t mean that the actual defense was better. Steph would have been a god amongst men.

And MJ would be the equivalent of Lamar Stevens today.

Got it!

Because we already have a "defensive" SG who's causing all sorts of problems for the offense.

"Defensive guy" is NBA code for "can't shoot". That's just how it is.

Thank you! My point exactly. AND he would get eaten alive on defense!
