2021 Draft Lottery

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
There is nothing wrong with a 6'1" PG.
Yup, would be ok if the Cavs didn't have 2 other 6'1" guards who plays heavy minutes.... To add to the other shorter SG that the Cavs have, personally I just don't like having an undersized backcourt specially if they are not good defenders....

Cooper is buddies with Okoro, as they played on the same AAU team near Atlanta. I heard they also like Jason Preston, Miles McBride, & BJ Boston.
McBride would be a decent back up pg prospect, the other two i would pass on

its funny watching all these draft vids and 'perfect fits' for Pistons, Rockets, Raptors , Warriors etc and there is never a perfect fit for Cavs
Eh that's because no one believes the Cavs are a fit for anyone.

Interesting. Appreciate it. Some folks have been spinning some tales then. I assume Mobley is coming in for a workout?

It’s been pretty widely published that the top 4 guys aren’t working out for anyone, which is why all of this has seemed fishy from the beginning…

Agree with this. The Cavs have enough undersized guards. They need length and some athletic players at that spot.

You have to wonder if the Kuminga stuff was coming from people who don't want the Cavs to take him? There is a lot to like about that kid physically. I don't know if he has that all-star vibe to his game though in terms of mental make-up and aggressiveness.

I really like Preston…kid has an amazing story and has made himself into quite a player. I met the guy, Brad Traina, who helped discover Preston, who had been a high school benchwarmer in the Orlando area. He helped get Preston to a prep school and tD1 scholarship.

McBride is a dog and a kid who just loves to compete.

I’ll preface this by saying that Kuminga has all the physical gifts you could ever want. I’ve watched some interviews & game tape. The kid speaks 5 languages and seems to be very intelligent. That said, he has only been in the US for 5 years and English is not his native tongue. He is very soft spoken, quiet, & shy. I’ve seen him be passive, bordering on lazy, on the court as well, which is more concerning.

There’s certainly a lot to work with, but he’s a longer play. I understand people have been telling him how great he is ever since he came to the US. I kinda wonder how much the kid wants it and how hard he will work?

He may end up being a stud, but motor/drive is one thing on which I never want to gamble.

You’re absolutely right. Internal drive is something that is very hard to learn…you either have it or you don’t. Kuminga comes across to me as extremely laid back & passive, bordering on lazy.

I’ve not heard that. I’ve heard Cade is only working out for Detroit and Green is only working out for Houston. I haven’t heard much about Mobley or Suggs and it’s been strangely quiet around them. I know Kuminga is working out for teams picking 3-6 and likely others too.

Well my assumption would be that Cooper would backup Garland and Sexton is probably traded.

I agree, hearing him speak, you can tell he is an intelligent kid. By mental make-up I was hinting more towards having that dog in him. And yes, also agreed...to me he makes a lot of sense in Orlando. They are beginning over in the rebuild and are less far along than us.

He reminds me a bit of Tim Thomas from back in the day. A guy I thought who had the NBA type body but just never really had that next level to greatness.

I mean Cade is a great fit on any of the top 3 teams. But if you're a drafting top 3, and are as bad as the teams drafting top 3 this year, you shouldn't be worried about fit. If the Rockets really do plan on playing KPJ at PG, I'm not at all convinced that Green is a good fit there (personally I think that F.O. is trying to chum the trade waters by leaking that they really like a multitude of players). The Raptors at No. 4 would clearly prefer Mobley over Suggs. My supposition is that the rumor about the Rockets being torn between Suggs and Green is being put out there with the hope that the Raptors will offer real value to trade up and grab Mobley in front of the Cavs.

In a world where we didn't have Sexton, we could do much worse than taking Cooper with a late 1st. He has some red flags (defense, shooting form and shot trajectory), but his ability to recognize and create shots for others is next-level. He is an absolute wizard with the ball in hands and has a knack for getting to the free throw line - he's very difficult to stay in front of and he has the court vision to kill you.

Personally, I think he'd be similar to Garland with two big differences: his outside shot isn't as consistent (bad form, low trajectory) and he'd actually improve the offensive game of every player on the court with him.

Having said all that, I'd be surprised if we made moves specifically to target Cooper, unless Okoro is also doubling as a Junior GM.
