This gonna end up with Gilbert selling the Cavs and buying the Pistons isn't it?
The guy is worth 4.1 billion dollars and he IS the sole owner. Nobody is going to force him to sell the Pistons! And I don’t know of any businessman out there now that is willing to spend money to win like Gilbert, Ballmer and Cuban

LaMelo is everything everyone expected him to be early on, both good and bad.

He's a really spectacular passer. I mean legitimately of the best in the league already. Plus he's so tall that he always has a passing lane. He's also willing to chase rebounds and will be a good rebounding guard.

But he's just a really poor shooter and finisher to the point where it's gonna take him a long time to figure out how to make a positive impact scoring the ball.

Fun player to watch though. If the shooting comes around, he'll be an all-star.

He could be the evolutionary Shaun Livingston. He's got physical tools with his size and length to be a good defender as well.
I know teams want to go full pace and space all the time but with him I would maybe just concentrate on a few post moves and midrange jumper. He just needs to respect his offense enough when he has the ball to be effective on offense

I haven't really seen Ball yet, but how does he compare to Ben Simmons? He's not as bad a shooter as Simmons I imagine, but he can't be nearly as good of a defender or finisher. And there seems to be consensus that Simmons jump shooting deficit means he can't be the best player on a championship team despite being a fantastic passer, defender, and finisher. It's just such a critical skill these days, if you don't have it it really puts a ceiling on potential. Pass-only won't cut it.

Not nearly as physical. Simmons doesn't shoot, but he does EVERYTHING else including rebounding, defending and finishing at a high level.

Ball is basically just a big elite passer without much else (he does rebound some too) at the moment.

it's a fair price for Kuzma who is like a 6th-7th man who does everything pretty well but nothing extremely well. But often these are exactly the kind of good but not great players that championship teams have a hard time locking down after a ring.

Tradeable. That is what is important about a contract like that, and I think it is tradeable.

I disagree with the everything pretty well - Kuzma does a few things really well and luckily for him it's what title teams are looking for
-he's improved as a wing defender to the point he's above average now.
-he's a very good shooter with his feet set
-he can post up smaller defenders
-he's a willing cutter
-combine the 1st and and the last 3 you get a guy on a contender who you can comfortably play in big games. A decent offensive threat who won't be targeted on defense is what title teams are looking for in a roleplayer.

OTOH, his shot selection isn't great and he has a bad handle. Basically except out of the post, he really can't create his own shot. On a team like the Cavs I think fans would be disappointed as he would struggle (good games mixed with a lot of clunkers) but on a team like the 76ers he would be really good

Yeah, I agree. Kuzma obviously doesn't have guard-type skills or great shot creation abilities so it's not true that he does "everything" well. But I meant exactly what you said -- he's good enough on defense and good enough on offense that he can play significant minutes in big games and contribute, so long as you have other players who can break down the defense and distribute the ball.
