Things that stick out from B-Ball Reference that I stumbled upon, having watched 0 NBA games. Please discuss, add more, etc. Obviously it's early but fun to think about: https://www.basketball-reference.com/leagues/NBA_2021_per_game.html
1. Jokic. Holy. Top assist guy in the league. 24/12/13. Just wow. Next best big is Juilus Randle at 7.5, also very impressive for him. Next highest Center is Plumlee @ 4.8. But Jokic is rocking 6 turnovers a game so something to keep in mind...
2. In what can only be deemed an excellent start, Garland (along with SGA) are the only 2 young guys at the top of the APG leaderboard. Like the guys ahead of garland are mid 30's (excluding Jokic). The point is, when you think APG, and you think low turnovers, and ball-handling duties, it's WAY early, but DG has potential to stick around with SGA, Luka, Fox, Trae. So it's early, but it's promising. If you were a casual non-Cleveland fan and you sorted by assists, Garland would stick out with a bunch of all stars. MIP?
3. Myles Turner averaging 5 blocks/game in 29 minutes played. We'll see him (and savvy passing big man Saboner) against the Pacers here shortly. Drummond 3rd at 2.8 BPG. I don't watch a lot of b-ball, but Turner on the Cavs would be nice in that Drummond/McGee role, but so are Drummond/McGee!
4. Rebounds/Game - #1 is Drummond. Love him or hate him (I love him), the biggest outlier here is #3 32 y/old guard Westbrook at 13.7 RPG.
That's all for now. What does everyone think besides "it's early" or "you should use advanced stats"?
