I'm not so sure. Look at Steph's advanced numbers... he quite clearly peaked in 2015-2016, the year we beat him. He is still a great player, but I think we are going to see how the grind without KD and Klay wears on him. He is going to be 32 in March.

All I would posit is that all of basketball-reference’s advanced stats are somewhat dependent on teammates or the box score. He’s definitely still dropped off a bit, but it’s much less severe when you look at regression-based, over-time stats like RPM/RAPM - which are still inconsistent year-to-year.

Anyways, we can both agree that their defense is going to blow. I guess we’ll see how good they are when the season begins.

A lot of noise is being made about Chriss around the media circuits. It's crazy how much playing for a 'big market' raises your profile. I'll believe it when I see it, but it would be brutal if he turned into a good NBA player. It's crazy to think about how many players have been through Cleveland since the first Lebron era and then ended up finding relative success after. Seth Curry, Livingston, CJ Miles and Joe Harris all come to mind.

I’d definitely be worried about his weight. He’s listed at 6’7” 284. With the way he plays, that’s a lot of impact on the joints on a nightly basis. He could stand to drop 15 pounds and would probably be more explosive.

It wouldn’t shock me to see him have an incredible first few years only to have his weight and injuries drag him down.

Already having knee problems, going to miss the first few weeks of the season with that knee injury. Of course NOP probably being ultra careful with him.

I think Chriss can be a productive player especially in GS system, but he isn't going to grow a feel for the game. He has some of the worst instincts I have seen. He is the center version of Joe Alexander.

Danny green is the one I really lament. Joe Harris being cut allowed Dontay Jones and he clearly helped us win the chip. Green was cut when there was no reason in the world to do so. He should have been given minutes on that shitty 2011 team and wasn't.

Letting Danny Green go was a huge mismanagement of evaluating talent. He should have been kept over half of that 2010-2011 squad. I remember the 15th spot came down to him and Manny Harris which I don't think looking back that either should have been anywhere close to that low.

Joe Harris was more traded away because of luxury tax and I think his spot got filled by Jordan McRae more than Dohntay Jones since it was the 14th spot when he got cut. Jones got added as the 15th spot right before the playoffs. I'm not sure if Cavs ownership would do that again after how they have approached the rebuild process. Trading away Harris only saved them 3 million or so in luxury tax but they had to pay Orlando 1 million in cash and a 2nd round pick. They didn't even save the max amount that they could have since they ended up keeping McRae on the roster after his 2 10 day contracts.

I for one am enjoying seeing Chriss on the Warriors- the Warriors do not turn every turd into gold, and while Chriss has nice tools he's isn't even in the class of Javale McGee imo in terms of talent.

I thought Russell got overrated for his performance on the Nets, but I do think he’s incredibly talented.

I believe playing alongside Curry will bring out the best performance of his career.

Pacers wanting to trade SAbonis means first of all that they are high on Goga Bitadze. It's smart if they can get a good return and a get a good wing in return.
They might think he can contribute now,and paying Sabonis with Goga on the roster for whatever reason is not worth it. EVen though Sabonis had a huge season last year and improves every year it seems.

I've thought that Love for either Sabonis or Miles Turner could make sense for both sides. The problem with Sabonis for Love is trying to match up salaries. The Pacers don't have salaries to match up without giving up other useful players.

How does it make sense for the Pacers?
Sabonis is the better player and they clearly don't want to pay Sabonis that kind of money.

Turner with Goga will provide plenty spacing in due time. I also think that Love's value will continue to diminish with so many stretch 4's or big SFs who can shoot playing that position. I'm not even sure Love is at this point above average shooter for the position? can someone provide data on that?

Even Pelicans just grabbed a guy called Nicolo Melli who looks like a great shooter and can provide even better shooting than Love for 1/7 of the cost, and that will just continue to grow.

The reason they don't want to pay Sabonis is because they found that he can't play next to Myles Turner. Both of them are best when they play center. They must feel confident in Goga as their backup center but Sabonis is good enough to start and will get paid to be a starter somewhere.

Love is a true stretch 4 that takes 6 3pt shots a game and even at 36% he is still above average. What makes Love valuable I think going forward is his ability to play inside and out. Pair that with a center like Myles Turner who can stretch out to the 3 point line and it makes it hard for teams to play a big wing at PF.

I actually thought Sabonis was shooting more 3s. He was down to .2 a game last season. He was shooting 2 a game his rookie season in OKC and I thought he at least kept that average when he went to the Pacers. That actually sways how I think he could fit with the Cavs. I don't think the current roster could handle taking away a good shooter like Love and bring in another big that doesn't stretch the floor.

In 2017-18, Love shot 41.5% from 3 on 5.6 attempts per game, and 88% from the line. I challenge you to find a better shooting season by a big man in NBA history.

Kevin Love regressed as a shooter while others git better, certainly will trend that way even more with positionless basketball
