This could be a primer for a Love for Whiteside trade.

I don't think Blazers are going to trade for Love. I think the Suns are the only realistic option at this point. I am guessing KLove is a Cavalier through this season and maybe gets shipped out in the offseason.

Also Caleb Swanigan has had a fun run. Portland to Sacramento now back to Portland in the last year alone.

I feel like the Blazers will come to the conclusion that there aren't many buyers and they can make a run at a championship while everyone has two stars. Basically like Toronto did last year. They have a good version of Melo right now and if Nurkic is going to come back to finish the season, why not go after Love for cheap especially since they got Ariza for cheap too.

Ariza at this stage of their careers isn't a upgrade on Bazemore. Blazers doing this trade saved 12.3 M against the Lux Tax which cut their tax bill in half. It was basically a cap dump for them.

I'd say because they're not good. Can't make a run at a championship if your team sucks. Love gonna make a lottery bound team a title contender?

I'd say it's more of removing Bazemore who doesn't fit while adding in Love, Nurkic, and Ariza. They were playing well with Nurkic last year before he got hurt. Love should be a good fit next to Nurkic. Hopefully Ariza can fit in better than Bazemore did.

There aren't any real stacked teams right now. I'd say Portland with Lillard, McCollum, Ariza, Melo, Love, and Nurkic could potential beat the Clippers or Lakers as they are constructed right now and get to the finals especially if they stay healthy and teams pick up some injuries.

I think Bazemore just didn't fit with the Blazers. I know the luxury tax part is a big deal but I think it was a gamble that could pay off if Ariza has a turn around like he did going from the Suns to the Wizards last year.

Lakers have given Anthony Davis a full two weeks off and not missed a step, going 4-1 with wins over OKC, Dallas, Houston...really underestimated this team. Without Davis they are on paper probably worse than last year’s team, certainly no better, but they look night and day different chemistry wise.

Disagree with this...a resurgent Dwight, improved KCP and Danny Green replaced Zubac, Stephenson and Beasley. Rondo is also sharing the court far less with LeBron.

The talent and fit is much better and can't be understated how much better a coach Vogel is than Walton.

Well, Vogel is definitely a demonstration of the importance of coaching, he has done a tremendous job, but I meant on-court personnel. They lost Ball, Ingram, and Hart -- Green is an upgrade, good that Dwight is as you say resurgent, but I don't think it makes up for losing those three. And KCP is the same player, he has only improved because the chemisty/coaching is better.

I mean how bad of a coach is Walton?:
-Lakers look great
-NOP look much improved with basically his old players from Lakers
-the team he took over has taken a significant step back

Yeah I really thought he was a good one. Complete miss so far.

No, he was just riding the GSW machine in its heyday. His relationships with players aside, he never struck me as thoughtful, disciplined or intelligent. His hiring will probably bring about the end of Vlade Divac in Sacramento in the near-ish future.
