2021 NBA PLAYOFFS MEGA THREAD

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Blake Griffin doing exactly what I said he was gonna do earlier in the season. Show up in the playoffs looking like his old self. He still got game.

Why??? Jim Brown has a statue....Otto Graham has a statue. Are you telling me that LBJ (who is considered the greatest player in Cavalier history.....helped to break a 52 year title drought) does not deserve a statue? I’m not a huge LBJ fan but I have to give the man his due. Hell the Lakers have statues of Magic, Shaq, Baylor (who BTW never win a title), West, and even Chick Hearn in front of Staples. And you don’t think LBJ deserves one??? I’m sorry that’s just plain stupid.

I'd argue that Jim Brown doesn't deserve a statue for his off field domestic violence, but it was done back when no one cared about athletes beating their wives so he gets a pass I guess.

And what are you referring to? I’m saying people are still hanging onto their hate for LBJ leaving but that’s got nothing to do with acknowledging what he did for this team and city. Stop twisting conversations and putting your own spin on it!

FWIW, I'm not mad at Lebron for leaving anymore, I forgave him for that when he came back w/ the letter.
I'm only irritated because the first time he was here the national media wouldn't let us enjoy it. It was always, "Where will Lebron go when his contract is up?!?"
Then when he came back, he did nothing but fuel it year in and year out w/ his 1 year deals. Meaning we couldn't get better players to commit longer term like teams such as GS did. We got the old timers coming in and had to hope on them to play out of their mind. Way past prime Richard Jefferson, etc. (loved the guy btw, he's a great dude).

He didn't do the same stuff in LA, he committed.

Generally speaking though I just think Statues cost a lot of money and the community could use the $ for something more beneficial.
Things like Statues, or Fields of Concrete Corn (Dublin, Ohio if you don't believe me), etc. All monumental wastes of $.

AAAAAAAnd this is why we don't build statues as well. No one stands the test of time.
At least you can rename the homeless shelter when the hero is made the villain.

the NBA should have intervened to stop the Nets getting Griffin. Just makes it too much like a video game. All the stars treating their contracts like toilet paper so they can just get an all star pickup team together

Bucks are handicapped on offense with giannison court. Too much of a liability.

There are 29 other teams that could've had Blake Griffin if they wanted him. They all passed.

Giannis went 16-24, 34 points. He wasn't the problem offensively. The problem was that other guys were just cold. Jrue and Middleton went a combined 13-42, and the team (other than Giannis) went 4-25 from deep.

Gotta make shots.

I’m at a loss.....maybe I’m not clear on this. When statues are put in front of arenas and stadiums that are owned by private citizens like Gilbert, Haslem and the Buss’ the teams arent the ones footing the Bill??? It’s done with city $$$$?

Depends who decides they want the statue. If the City says "we want an LBJ statue", then the City pays. If Dan wants it, he pays. Or if some other group wants to raise the money, then they pay.

Personally, I've come to the point where I'm not a fan of statues dedicated to single athletes for a team unless there is something that goes beyond just excellence at the sport. Someone who epitomizes not just athletic skill, but sportsmanship, etc.. So Roberto Clemente, great. Hank Aaron, yes. Even a guy like Tim Duncan, who was not just a great player but became the true symbol of class for that franchise and played his whole career there. He pretty much symbolizes what you want in a player, and not just because he was great at playing the game.

I'm fine with a statue dedicated to the 2016 team, or even "the block, the shot, the stop," because that's a team image too. But not one just for LBJ. Not in Cleveland, anyway. Let Akron do that.

I’ve never seen a more 2008 thru 2010 replication of the Cavs quite like this Bucks squad.

Middleton and Holiday and that cast just screams Mo Williams, Delonte, Jamison, Parker, Wallace, Shaq etc…

You don’t want to admit it to yourself but you compare it to others and you know it’s not quite good or dynamic enough…

It’s so much nicer on this side when you have your championship from this era and these aren’t things to worry about any longer… It’s like that whole would you rather have 1 championship or bigger window to compete for 1 ? I’ll take my 1 championship thank you very much…

Also nice to see Kyrie compete again…. Admittedly Kyrie is my guy and I throughly enjoy watching his complete offensive arsenal… I’m hoping it’s either him or CP3 that gets the title this season…
