2021 Series #5 | Indians @ Reds| April 16th, 17th, and 18th

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Well we have a young rotation and proving a pitchers worth isn't how they deal with the easy times, it's how they recover from the hard times.

Unfortunately, we have TMac on the mound today without Quantrill and Stephan available to provide multiple innings as a bridge to the back end of the pen.

At some point it would be good to split Allen and TMac up in the rotation.
If Allen repeats last night, they should be split up soon as he will end up in Columbus.

It would be uncharacteristic for the FO to make a knee jerk reaction regarding Allen.

Besides, in spite of last night, his peripherals haven't been too bad. I know that nobody wants to hear the word unlucky anymore, but it applies to Allen.

He is striking out more batters than he has in the past, walking fewer, giving up weaker contact, and his groundball rate is fantastic.

And he fully bought into the Tribe pitching system.

My guess is that he will get a fairly long leash.

Two short term, immediate need names to consider, if they become available for the minimum...

Todd Frazier to play first.

Brian Goodwin to replace Gamel.

Both have May opt outs with Pittsburgh.

Neither will make anybody happy, but could be short term fixes.

The ancient Frazier had a solid season in 2019, hitting 21 homers, without striking out a lot.

Goodwin is an all around better player than Gamel, and is capable of playing all three outfield spots.

If the Indians are still insistent on waiting for kids like Johnson and Bradley to get more AAA at bats under their belts, these two might be able to plug some of our holes for a few months.

They sure look like upgrades over what we have on the MLB roster now.

I wanted to ask the same question, but thought better of it.

7-6 but the worst lineup in the Tito era.

Change is needed.
