2022-2023 NBA Regular Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think they’re about to tank without even trying. I think I put it in this thread, but they are 2-5 in their last 7 and their next 13 are: @GS, @PHX, CHI, LAC, IND, POR, MIN, @DEN, NO, NO, @MIL, @CLE

No gimmies in that group. The last 5 games in that stretch are against 4 of the current top 6 in the league, with 5 of their 7 toughest games on the road.
The WC is pretty bunched up too. There's only 3 losses separating a team like Utah and OKC (shout out to KevinLoveFan).
Ainge is such a bastard too. You know he wants in on some of that Wemby action.

I think Sexton got the message that they want him to try to set up other players. He had 12 assists against the Pistons. I only watched the highlights but they seem to have a good 4th quarter despite the end score. They got it to 3 points with like a minute left.

Sexton played 35 minutes, 17 points, 12 assists.

Morant style of play isn't likely to give him many seasons
at the peak of his ability.

You can admire the reckless aggression, but he falls to the
floor hard several times each game. Often his crashes
are the end result of wild jumps into bigger players
in the paint.

The hard wood is an unforgiving surface.

Yep. Way too many similarities to Rose to be confident in his career long term.

I'm taking Garland over Morant 9/10.

I also think Morant is a huge flopper and is being propped up by the league as the next big thing because he is exciting. He gets softest whistle in the league alongside Embiid.

Oh, and his defense is almost Trae Young level.

I refuse to believe that these are real NBA players and not generated players from NBA 2K.
A friend and I had a player generated in NCAA Bball back in 2007 named Jamal Eisentrout on a Virginia Tech team. Black guy with braids.

Never forgot it.

From the jump, I felt like Sexton wasn't viewed as a net positive by Ainge in this trade. Sexton with that contract was a massive favor to Altman, making an impossible negotiation go away. I can't stress this enough since a handful of Cavaliers die-hards want to post draft grade updates daily.

I sort of share your instinct, but if Sexton was not viewed as a positive how do you explain the extremely generous contract Utah agreed to for him? A four year contract at $18 million/year is IMO a significant overpay, will be hard to trade, and is not something a rebuilding team should want to be tied to. It’s very hard for me to square that with Utah not having a positive view of his potential

Right, they must see something with Sexton otherwise they would have asked for Levert or Okoro/Windler/Cedi to just get expirings. They might have overpaid Sexton on a one year deal or some 2 year deal with a partial option in the second year. A 4 year commitment to any player isn't something a team does as a favor or to get a deal done especially with the contracts we had.

Cavs were having a dumpster fire 3rd quarter, but OKC is hot. Great off-ball movement, great pace...things the Cavs tend to struggle with. Up over the Bulls early in the 4th.

ANOTHER overtime for OKC.

Wish they could finish games in the 4th more often. A big weakness is letting one guy go off at the end...the other night, it was Aaron Gordon. Tonight, it was his dunk rival, Zach LaVine.

And OKC pulls out the W!

SGA got fouled on a 3 by DeRozan near the end of OT. SGA hit all FTs to put them up. DeRozan then missed on the other end, SGA got more FTs to ice the game. Boom.

OKC playing Rockets on a back to back. Tre Mann is a guy who can shoot you in and out of games...shooting OKC out of it right now, sadly.

The irony that is the rest of that game.

Lakers score 140+ with no AD.

Bron's old I play defense like Kevin Love head ass drops 39 with 7 3s going 10/10 from the line.

Goat shit.

Sexton is playing better as a starter - he had 12 and 7 assists in the last 2 games with only 2 total turnovers and he's got 5 assists and 1 turnover so far tonight. He has 50 points in the 3 games on 18-31 fga.
