This isn’t Cavs related but I HATE the Nets giving up on winning and trading away their only shot at a championship because Durant was being a spoiled brat as usual

Sucks for basketball. If I was Nets GM I would have been like fuck you you’re playing for us

A potential trade involving a Love for Simmons swap (that is legal):

Cavs Get: Lonzo Ball, Royce O'Neale
Nets Get: Kevin Love, Coby White, Marko Simonovic
Bulls Get: Ben Simmons

Bulls decide to give up on Lonzo Ball ever being healthy again - and take on the Simmons contract... since he actually plays.
Nets get expirings for Ben Simmons, which is a win
Cavs get Royce O'Neale for Taking on the Lonzo Ball Contract.... maybe you can stretch this and get Cam Johnson since he is on an expiring?

Yea and no. That locker room was beyond toxic at this point, and management for that franchise wasn’t capable of coddling a superstar. It’s unimaginable to say but they were better off long term moving him and starting fresh.

I don’t buy that whatsoever. You can’t replace Durant. They gave him a decent supporting cast and he had a shot this year. He would have come round after pouting some. He really would have had no choice

The Suns are going all in. Trading four 1st round picks for a 34-year-old when your point guard is 38 is crazy. They have maybe this year and next to win a championship before Paul and Durant are too old and they're out of first round picks. At least we traded our first rounders for a 26-year-old.

What's up with Cam Thomas, the Nets' 21-year-old second year shooting guard who scored 44, 47, and 43 points the last three games since Kyrie was traded? His last game he was 18-for-20 on free throws. He's shooting 56% from the field and the same on 3's. He was the 27th pick in the 2021 draft.

I'd like to see the Cavs get Royce O'Neale, who is described as a good 3-and-D defender and who played with Mitchell at Utah. O'Neale is hitting 40.3% on 3's and is 6'6", 226, and 29 years old. I'd move Cedi or LeVert for him, but I doubt Brooklyn would do it. Fedor says O'Neale is the guy they want and Brooklyn is overloaded with wings now.

its a win-now league based on spending.....the thought of a team trying to forecast four years down the line is bizarre.....if not delusional...when you take into consideration all the talent, parity and injuries

i would be amazed if gilbert does nothing with loves health and expiring contract

They weren’t making it out of the east. And he wasn’t all in with the franchise. It’s was over.

Taking on Harris' terrible contract (18 mill this season and 19 mil next season) to acquire O'Neale for Love's expiring would be the whole point because it clears $28 million from their cap.

he has to do something....its all about what gilbert wants to spend to get it done.....borderline negligent if he doesnt

and jaylen might not be 100 percent for a couple months ...it appears to be a broken fukn jaw..

big risk for the cavs if they have to eat balls 40mm contract.........a 20 min/game hayward probably has less risk than ball and if rfa pj can play both the three and the four much more upside than oneal in a love/hayward/washington swap

They weren’t making it out of the east. And he wasn’t all in with the franchise. It’s was over.

Durant playing his ass off would have given them a shot in the East. He almost got them through singlehandedly two years ago when he almost beat the Bucks but his toe was on the line. He actually had a good supporting cast this year - all role players but GOOD role players, the best

Also, injuries are always a possibility

Yes, but I doubt that deal exists.

I understand. I just think they could get an actual asset for Harris.

How bad is joe Harris’s defense these days?

Huh? Harris is terribad, like unplayable. Per of 9.3. Negative offensive and defensive RPM (ranks #83 out of 98 NBA SFs) He still shoots 40% from 3 so his scoring efficiency is good, not great. He's like another Kevin Love on the team minus rebounding. Nets not getting any assets for that booty. He's going to be glued to the bench with all the wings incoming via trades this week.

What are the chances cavs make a trade? Imo I think the east is wide open

Seems like a true toss up to me now. As others have called out, the KD trade changes some things. The Nets and Cavs have a history of working together. If yesterday I thought 15-20% chance of a trade, today I’m more 40-45%.

It’s still a difficult process, but the door is definitely more open now.

Nets have a ton of wings, Royce O'Neale seems to be the target there. Not sure what they would want.
